David Sornberger speaks with award-winning photographer and writer, Joanna Lentini, whose photo entry was selected from more than 6,000 submissions from across all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and seven Canadian provinces and territories.

“Joanna’s awe-inspiring image, taken in Mexico, truly took our judges’ breath away,” the Audubon Society said in its press release announcing the contest winners. “Joanna’s image brings this incredible bird, and the food source it depends on, to life.”

Today we’re talking with Amir Hariri of Vanexus Photography in Vancouver. He took a stunning photo of the NEOWISE comet, which is currently on a massive “near parabolic” orbit, according to Astronomer Rachel Wang with Vancouver’s HR Macmillan Space Centre.

In one of his posts he wrote, “I’m always struck by the scale of our universe when I’m photographing the night sky. Last night was the same, just watching this comet move up and eventually disappear was an absolute joy.”
