But security is not just about your physical or mental well-being. It’s also about protecting the lives and experiences of those you love.In 2018, I was hacked in the worst way, hackers invaded my personal files held safely behind government firewalls. They used this information to create false narrative about my life and the lives of my family members.I called it a social hack, because the hackers stole my credibility via social media platforms, social engineering, and the lack of knowledge the public lives under daily. The lack of knowledge that allows us to sleep peacefully at night is what is used to end careers, end relationships, kill people, steal, and yes mentally and physically abuse.We have all gotten into the habit of not reading the fine print or the policy agreements. We just scroll and click “I agree”. Moving forward I think we all should read the documents before agreeing. Learn what is considered Personal Identifiable Information (PII), what other information about you when grouped together becomes PII, and how this information can be used to harm you.
