Josh Ellis is the editor in chief for SUCCESS magazine. Before joining SUCCESS in 2012, he was an accomplished digital and print sportswriter, working for the Dallas Cowboys Star magazine, the team’s gameday program, and DallasCowboys.com. Originally from Longview, Texas, he began writing for his hometown newspaper at sixteen.
In this episode Thom Singer sits down with Josh and talks about the growth and changes at SUCCESS Magazine, his path to the Editor and Chief role, and the future of the media outlet. SUCCESS Magazine is currently looking for their "Hustle Editor" to oversee the new section of the publication with content about how to be scrappy, hustle, and grow your side business or full time endeavor into something more.
SUCCESS Magazine, the leading voice in the field of personal and professional development for 124 years, today announced an open call for an external “influencer” editor who will lead the “hustle” content segment of its first-ever external editorial board. The ideal candidate will be a dynamic, go-getter individual who has a proven track record that exemplifies the power of the “hustle” and who can motivate others with compelling content on the topics of productivity, goal setting, personal growth, achieving beyond expectations, startup mentality and side-hustling. The new editor will join other “citizen journalists” as part of the magazine’s community-based editorial board, designed to expand and enhance content and digital training courses that target the growing personal development sector.
The venerable SUCCESS magazine, founded in 1897, has grown into a multi-platform media company that encompasses Success.com, multiple podcasts, newsletters, digital training courses, and affiliated social media accounts, which reach an estimated five million people each month.
The new editor will be able to share their own inspirational stories, advice, and personal growth content with the millions who turn to SUCCESS each month for developmental guidance. Those interested in applying can visit SUCCESS Hustle Editor. The position is competitively paid, and to be eligible, candidates must be at least 21 years old and have the drive to help others with their hustle-focused motivational content. The deadline to apply is March 25, 2021.
In addition to the Hustle editor, the publication will be announcing editors for five other segments including Entrepreneurship, Money, People, Lifestyle, and Sales and Marketing.
According to SUCCESS Editor Josh Ellis, there are numerous publications and websites that provide companies with tools and resources to become successful. But there is only one brand that offers practical and achievable solutions for individuals to improve themselves.
“In the modern gig economy and with more and more people having to reinvent themselves as a result of the pandemic - both personally and professionally - we’re seeing a huge uptick in the demand for self-help and personal development tools and training,” said Ellis. “SUCCESS has always been the lighthouse for those who find success through hard work, perseverance, entrepreneurship, and ingenuity, and we’re excited to expand on that rich heritage with the resources our new community editors will bring,” he said.
The May/June issue of SUCCESS hits newsstands on April 6.
