He’s Natxo manager anymore...that’s right, Natxo Gonzalez is out at La Rosaleda after just 1 win in 10. And we’re in with the new in the form of Pablo Guede. We discussed our 2nd managerial change of the season, as well as looking back over Natxo’s final game as manager - last Friday night’s 1-0 loss away to Girona. It was back to back defeats for Malaga, as Huesca took all 3 points home from La Rosaleda on Sunday in what was probably the worst game of the season. A perculiar team selection yielded no change in fortunes for an ailing Naxto Gonzalez as goals from Mateu and Seoane condemed the home side to a 2-0 defeat. Chris, Alex and Nick look back over the game whilst giving their verdicts on how Naxto still has a job, before looking ahead to Malaga's next game, an away day to high-flying Girona on Friday.

Things continued to go south for Málaga in the south of Madrid, as Málaga lose 1-0 to relegation rivals Fuenlabrada. A Mohamed Bouldini goal is enough to defeat a hapless Málaga and even with a 7 point cushion from the relegation zone, it is fair to say that the Guiricast are worried. We discussed, once again, what is going wrong for Málaga before looking ahead to our home game against Huesca and establishing that the Guiricast is now very much a ‘Natxo out’ podcast. Plus, Matt and Alex described their away trip to Fuenlabrada and denounce the away stand of Estadio Fernando Torres and celebrate fried aubergines.

On the first-ever away day version of our 'Vamos a...' series, Matt and Alex head to the south of Madrid to watch Málaga take on Fuenlabrada. It was the second draw in a row for Málaga at La Rosaleda - this time the draw came in the form of a 0-0 draw against Ponferradina. A 0-0 draw, but still enough talking points for us with some surprises in the starting XI again, a young player excelling on his debut and a possible penalty shout turned down. As always, we looked ahead to Málaga’s game this coming weekend, which sees Los Blanquiazules travel to Fuenlabrada - where two of our hosts will be heading too. Plus, we talked about the new salary cap and potential new goalkeepers.

Málaga had the better of Amorebieta and finally grabbed a win - their first win since the 3rd January. But, were we actually that much better? Or was this another flat performance? We discussed that 2-1 win at Amorebieta on this week’s pod. Málaga came agonisingly close to their first win under Natxo González this week, but got spectacularly denied by an old face, as Shinji Okazaki delivered an overhead kick with the last kick of the game to make it a 1-1 draw against Cartagena. We look back on what effect that draw will have on Málaga, ahead of our game versus Amorebieta, and the positives to be taken from the performance. Málaga may have played a B team this week, but they were very much a B-eaten team, as they lost 2-0 in San Sebastian to Xabi Alonso’s Real Sociedad B. Things just keep getting worse for Málaga at the moment causing a group of fans to vent their anger outside La Rosaleda this week. We discuss that away loss as well as trying to find some hope ahead of our upcoming home game v Cartagena.

No raiding La Romareda this season, as Málaga come away from Zaragoza with just a draw in a game that lacked quality (Dani Barrio aside) but did get Natxo González his first point as Málaga manager. We looked back on that 1-1 draw, before heading back home to Andalucía ready for an Andalucían derby. This Saturday 2nd place Almería come to Málaga and we were joined by our favourite Almería fan Brian to talk about the game, Almería’s promotion push and the club’s Sadiq-less struggles on the pitch of late.
