  • What we're reading: "The Power of One", Part 6, "Sober-Think"
The cost of Christian unity is high. What will it take for us to avoid the problems of arrogance on the one hand, and insecurity on the other? Are we looking for balance when this may not be our best goal?

  • What we're reading: "The Power of One", Part 5 - valuing what we lack
In a fifth look at a book by Tim Roberts we consider whether we are truly grateful for what we lack. If we believe in unity in diversity we will value those different from ourselves and in doing so celebrate what we lack!

  • What we're reading: "The Power of One", Part 4
In this fourth look at Tim Robert's book we ask whether predictability is a good or a bad thing. God is consistent in nature, but not predictable in his actions. What do you think about the predictability of our church services?

  • What we're reading: "The Power of One", Part 3

  • What we're reading: "The Power of One"
In a recent book by Tim Roberts we're drawn to the example of David. He sets a tremendous example of what it means to forge unity. His expression of that unity in Ps 133 prefigures that of John 17. What does Christian unity look like and mean to you?

  • A Little Bit Of Luke: Part 6
Luke gives us a particular emphasis on the necessity of the cross and the suffering of Messiah. Why might that be?
Here are some references to the Greek word "dei" that Luke uses to emphasis the necessity of things: Luke 2:49; 4:43; 9:22; 13:33; 17:25; 22:7, 37; 24:7, 26, 44

  • A Little Bit Of Luke: Part 5
Why do we have so much information about John "the dipper" (see Josephus)? Isn't the Gospel about Jesus? Perhaps Luke had a reason for giving John so much airtime, but what was it?
    References to John in Acts: Acts 1:5, 22; 10:37; 11:16; 13:24; 18:25; 19:3–4
