This week on the pod, Jesse is back for a wholesome chat about life and music. We reminisce on the early Facebook era before it tore families apart and being a part of the last generation that grew up before the internet. We also unpack some of our past emo wardrobe choices, including the 6+ year stint where all I wore was skinny jeans, vans, and v necks.
We then proceed to get mushy talking about our journey being in a band together, more specifically, the role Jesse played in forming The Roommates.

This week on the pod we have tattoo artist, Dre Li, joining me in the studio!
A very inspiring guest, Dre is a prominent tattoo artist based here in Dallas, Tx where she and her wife own and operate their own tattoo shop called “Electric Feels Studio."
Get the backstory on where Dre grew up and her journey to becoming the tattoo artist she is today. We dive into her tattooing process, how she built her brand, opening up her own women-ran business, and more. I was particularly interested in learning how she combats negative thoughts relating to her confidence in pursuing art as a full time career.
Being a fellow queer, we also dive into topics like how she met her wife and how she realized she was gay after being called out by her high school boyfriend's mom over her Britney Spears obsession.
And to cap off our conversation, we realize our shared love for pickleball even though neither of us have actually played a single game of pickleball yet, and contemplate if aliens are competitive. Yes, aliens.
This was a really great convo. We cover so many topics - serious to funny. Especially for artist out there, this is a great convo to listen in on. It was a treat getting to learn about Dre's journey and how she has established herself as a highly sought-after artist in the tattoo industry. I can’t wait for y’all to listen.

We have a banger of an episode this week with friend and fellow bandmate Marisa Saltzgiver stopping by the studio!
A certified Drumming Extraordinaire, Marisa plays drums AND bass in our band The Roommates. We get the scoop on Marisa’s musical background and influences, taking it back to where it all started for her - from being a Hillary Duff stan to learning “Swing Swing” by All American Rejects on a full kit in High School that catalyzed her passion for playing drums.
We talk about her childhood in general, growing up in small town Illinois - being queer and how she handled that, growing up in the Catholic church, and how she made her way to Texas after high school and found different bands to play in through Craigslist (WHAAAAT!???!?).
Then to cap things off by Marisa sharing some of her experiences with psychedelic plant medicine, more specifically the time she met “God” during a DMT trip (this gets so good, yall).
