We are all like Jonah. We have run from God’s plans for our lives, only to find ourselves in storms of our own making. But, God is gracious and meets us right where we are. Are you running?

We do not get to decide what kind of person or people should lead the church. God has done that already. The qualifications for elders and deacons are laid out clearly in Scripture and must be followed.

The Bible is the word of God. If we do not affirm it as the word of God, then we become the arbiters of God’s word. If we take it upon ourselves to determine what parts of the Bible are true and what parts are untrue, we do not submit to the Word, we try to force it to submit to us. Are you submitting to ALL of God’s word?

Healthy churches are characterized by a commitment to and excitement for evangelism. Do you believe in the power of the gospel?

Intentional discipleship in the local church requires one-on-one engagement. Not just talking about how to be a Christian, but showing others how to live a life pleasing to Christ by walking with them. Who are you bringing along?

The clear and accurate teaching of God’s word is essential in a healthy church. Preaching is authoritative and personal. Are you ready?

Pray with intensity. Pray with anticipation. Pray with humility. Are you praying?

Jesus is worthy of worship and praise. We have a responsibility to care for the poor and to engage in mission and ministry, but our mission and ministry must never come at the cost of praise and worship.

How do you worship the Lord?

Many people claimed in the early church to know when Christ would return. Many claim the same thing today. Those people are false teachers. How should we live as we await the surprise return of Christ?

There are many things that will come to pass and many things that will pass away. However, we can stand firm in the Word of God. It will never pass away. Are you trusting in the Word of God or in other things?
