There are other lessons to be learned from the fig tree, but the most important thing Jesus wanted us to grasp is the importance and power of faith filled prayers.

TBQ: Do you pray with faith?

Bartimaeus had blind faith. Even as voices around him tried to silence his cries, his trust in Jesus didn’t falter.

TBQ: Where is your trust?

Jesus went to Jerusalem with a purpose in mind. Even the journey there is a reminder of his mission. The kingdom was dawning as Jesus neared Jerusalem.

TBQ: Are you comfortable with Jesus?

Christianity is an other-worldly religion. We hope, not only in this life, but in the life to come. If in this life only we have hoped, we are of all people to be pitied. Where are you basing your hopes?

TBQ: Do you have hope?

When Jesus rode into town, he left no doubt as to his purpose. His arrival at the head of a rag-tag band of followers, riding a donkey was an illusion to his purpose. His cleansing of the temple was an exclamation point. The king had come to assume his throne.

TBQ: Have you surrendered to the King?

The disciples had a misplaced understanding of Jesus’ ministry. His was a kingdom open to children, but resistant to rich young rulers. Jesus isn’t a king only for the powerful, but for the helpless and even the oppressed.

TBQ: How do you view Jesus?

Jesus elevated the role of marriage beyond what was the common in his day.
