The reality and evil of sin are often lost on our modern culture that focuses on pain and therapy instead of sin and redemption. Sin is a problem because God is holy.

We don’t have the market cornered on ministry. We do mission and ministry in ways that are dictated by our particular theology and our preferences. Just because some choose to minister in ways that are different than ours doesn’t mean that they are wrong. TBQ: What is ministry?

Jesus told of his coming death and resurrection, but the disciples squabbled over who was the greatest among them. The mission of Christ is not power and glory, but sacrifice and service—childlike faith.

Unbelief is a sin. But, like every other sin, Jesus offers forgiveness and help in overcoming it.

Jesus’s inner circle were given a glimpse that no one else on earth has ever experienced. It is understandable that they would have wanted to stay on the Mount of Transfiguration, but Jesus sent them back to real life. TBQ: Why is retreat not an option?

The call to follow Jesus is the call to die. Giving up everything runs counter to most common sense, but it is perfectly in line with the teachings of Christ.
