For your own salvation, it doesn’t matter what anyone else says about Jesus, only what you confess about Jesus. Peter needed to know more than what others said, Peter needed to know Jesus.

TBQ: Who do you say that he is?

Often, salvation does not come during a person’s first encounter with he gospel. Many people in Jesus’ day “saw” but did not believe. This man’s healing is a metaphor for those who’s eyes had been opened, but who still did not behold Jesus for who he was.

TBQ: Are you patient and persistent with the gospel?

The Pharisees demanded a sign and the disciples were blind.

TBQ: Are you blind or obstinate?

This miracle likely occurred in Gentile territory. Just as in the previous chapter, Mark shows that Jesus’s minister extends to Gentiles as well as the Jews.

TBQ: Who needs to know that Jesus came for them too?

The Gospel demands a response. In the Bible, people reacted to the message of Jesus in some very specific ways.
