MAN ON FILM: SAVAGE FILM REVIEW

MAN ON FILM: “BEAST” (Russell Crowe… WHAT happened?!)

Welcome, welcome, WELCOME to the best show in the world…
MAN ON FILM — and yeah…
…it’s raining, man.

This episode?
We just walked out the theater after watching Beast starring Russell Crowe…
…and let’s just say:
 we got thoughts.

On paper, this should’ve been a knockout:
MMA comeback story revenge plot brother dies → fighter returns Russell Crowe writing, producing, starring…
…but somehow?
…it ends up feeling like:
a remix of every fight movie you’ve already seen.

We break down:
• Why the action scenes actually HIT (the best part of the movie)• The BIG problem: it’s way too predictable — like calling every punch before it lands• The strange decision-making behind the story (and yeah… we noticed EVERYTHING )• And the moment we all realized:
“wait… is this just Rocky again??”

And of course…
you already KNOW we had the squad with us.
Including Jethro…
 unfiltered unapologetic absolutely NOT entertained
Let’s just say…
he had A LOT to say about Russell Crowe

 Final Verdict:
6/10 overall ~7/10 in sports movie territory
Respectable…
…but not memorable.
If you’re into MMA movies, it’s watchable.
If you’re expecting something fresh?
you might be checking your watch halfway through.

 Tap in for:
raw reactions wild commentary real film breakdowns (no industry fluff)
Because on MAN ON FILM…
 we don’t just watch movies.
We call them EXACTLY how we see them.

MAN ON FILM: FACES OF DEATH
Welcome, Welcome, WELCOME to the best show in the world — where it’s always RAINING MAN  — this is MAN ON FILM with your host Mr. Xcellence… and this week?
Yeah…
 FACES OF DEATH is back.
And somehow… this remake is actually WAY better than it has any right to be.
Let’s get straight to it:
This is an 85% — GO SEE IT (if you can handle it )
We’re talking:
• A performance from Dacre Montgomery that’s straight-up unhinged (in the BEST way) • Brutal, chaotic horror that feels modern, fast, and just uncomfortable enough • A remake of one of the most infamous titles ever… that actually brings something NEW to the table • And moments that had us like: “nah… this is CRAZY crazy.”
But of course…
this is MAN ON FILM — so we’re not just praising it.
We’re asking the real questions:
Why are people STILL making the worst survival decisions possible? How does something this disturbing end up this entertaining? And how are we laughing in scenes we probably shouldn’t be laughing in??
We break it ALL down:
• What worked (and worked HARD)• What didn’t make ANY sense• The scenes that stuck with us• And why this might quietly be one of the more interesting horror drops this year

 Bottom line:
If you like horror that’s: intense psychological a little chaotic and keeps you talking after…
This is your movie.

 MAN ON FILM: THE DRAMA
Welcome, welcome, WELCOME to the best show in the world — where it’s always raining men  — this is MAN ON FILM with Mr. Excellence and Mr. Caravaggio… and this week?
Oh, baby.
We’re talking THE DRAMA starring Robert Pattinson and Zendaya — and let’s just say…
this is not your sweet little wedding movie.
This one gives:
romance chaos awkward confessions beautiful people making deeply questionable choices and enough emotional mess to power all of Manhattan
Is it a rom-com?Kind of.
Is it unhinged?Absolutely.
We get into the chemistry, the weirdness, the glam New York wedding energy, and the moments that had us sitting there like:
“…wait, WHAT is wrong with all of y’all??”
Final verdict: a solid 75% — with extra points if messy relationship chaos is your love language

MAN ON FILM: SUPER MARIO GALAXY
Welcome, welcome, WELCOME to the best show in the world — where it’s always RAINING MAN  — this is MAN ON FILM with your host Mr. Xcellence… and this week?
Oh yes.
We just stepped out of a private screening of SUPER MARIO GALAXY…
…and baby, we got THOUGHTS.
Let’s start here:
This one gets a strong 75%.
Which means yes — they actually came back and did what needed to be DONE.
Because after that first movie?
We had questions.Concerns.Doubts.Maybe even a little emotional damage.
But THIS time?
Bigger world Better visuals More ambition More “okay wait… now y’all cooking”

This episode, we get into:
• Why this movie feels like Nintendo finally decided to stop playing with us • Jack Black absolutely eating as Bowser like this is lowkey HIS franchise now • Brie Larson pulling up as Rosalina with full cosmic princess energy • Glenn Powell entering the chat as Star Fox like somebody in the casting room was feeling REAL bold • And the one thing that took a CHUNK out of the score…
What did they do to Yoshi??
Yes.We have to talk about it.Because if you know, you KNOW.
And if you don’t?
Oh, trust… we’re going there.

This movie really said:
“What if Mario got bigger, weirder, more galactic, more emotional, more cinematic…but still kept enough chaos to make the crowd lose their minds?”
And honestly?
That part works.
A LOT of it works.
The visuals? Gorgeous.
The scale? Huge.
The fan-service moments? Oh they knew exactly what they were doing.
There were multiple times we were sitting there like:
“Okay wait… why is this actually hitting??”

BUT because this is MAN ON FILM…
you already know we’re not just here to clap and smile.
We’re asking the REAL questions:
Why is one of the most beloved Mario characters getting treated like an afterthought? Why did Bowser almost run off with the whole damn movie by himself? Why does Luigi seem like he’s having a whole separate little emotional journey??  And why are certain princesses looking at Mario like they got plans beyond the galaxy??

We also break down:
• The moments that made us laugh• The scenes that genuinely gagged us visually• The post-credit setups that got us READY for the next one• And whether this is finally the Mario sequel that gives the franchise real staying power
Because let’s be honest…
This isn’t just about whether the movie is “good.”
It’s about whether Nintendo and Universal finally figured out how to turn this into a real movie universe.
And from what we saw?
 They might actually have something.

 Final verdict:
75%
A definite step up.A much better ride.A visually stacked sequel with real crowd-pleasing energy.
And yes…
we’re still side-eyeing the Yoshi situation.

 Bottom line:
If you love Mario…If you love animation…If you want a sequel that actually tries to go BIGGER…
this episode is for you.
Because we break down the highs, the chaos, the missed opportunities, and the moments that had us ready to argue in the parking lot after the credits rolled

MAN ON FILM: SUPER MARIO GALAXY
This week on MAN ON FILM, we’re talking SUPER MARIO GALAXY — and yes… they actually stepped it UP.
 Final verdict: 75%
This one is bigger, more ambitious, more visually stunning, and way more fun than the first time around
We get into:• Bowser basically stealing scenes again • The galaxy-level visuals• The characters that worked• The post-credit setups• And the one major issue we absolutely cannot ignore…
What did they do to Yoshi??
Tap in as we break down what worked, what didn’t, and whether Mario finally found his stride on the big screen.

MAN ON FILM: THEY WILL KILL YOU
Welcome, Welcome, WELCOME to the best show in the world — where it’s always RAINING MAN  — this is MAN ON FILM with your host Mr. Xcellence and special guest host Mr Caravaggio… and this week?
Oh yeah…
THEY WILL KILL YOU is here — and baby, this one came in swinging.
Let’s start here:
This is a solid 70% overall… but in horror-comedy? We’re pushing that up to an 80%.
Because listen…
This movie is: Bloody Stylish Funny in all the right sick ways And just wild enough to have us sitting there like…
“Wait… is this Kill Bill 3 with Satan??”

We’re diving into:
• Zazie Beetz kicking ass like prison turned her into a full-blown action demon • Patricia Arquette bringing weird, spooky medium energy like she got direct service from Hell • Heather Graham catching chaos in the most ridiculous ways possible • And a whole devil-rich-people-immortality setup that had us like… “Oh… so THIS is what the co-op fees are paying for?”

And yes… we gotta talk about the pig.
Because when we say pig…
We do NOT mean cute little farm animal energy
We mean: Rotting devil pig Sign-your-name-on-the-flesh pig Tentacle / esophagus / nightmare-fuel pig
And once that thing starts doing TOO much?
Yeah…
…we had questions.

This movie really said:
“What if rich people made a blood deal with Satan for immortality…but make it stylish, slashy, funny, and just a little unhinged?”
And honestly?
That part kind of works.

BUT — we still keep it real over here:
The Tarantino influence is LOUD.Like… LOUD loud.
At certain points we were like:
“Sir… Quentin would like his movie back.”
Because this thing is giving:
• Black exploitation throwback energy• Samurai revenge movie vibes• Horror-comedy bloodbath chaos• A little Cabin in the Woods• A lotta Kill Bill with demons

And of course…
We break down the REAL issues:
• Did the ending go one step too far? • Was the final pig-head sequence genius… or just plain TOO MUCH? • Are these rich-people-in-satanic-cults movies trying to tell us something?? • And how exactly did our heroine come out of prison fighting like John Wick’s long-lost cousin??

Let’s be clear:
This is not the scariest movie of the year.
It’s more like:
Gory Clever Campy Entertaining as hell
So if you like your horror with laughs, blood, weird visuals, and a whole lot of “what the HELL is happening?” energy…
This one might be for you.

 Final verdict:
Overall?
 70%
But on the horror-comedy curve?
 80% easy.
Because not every movie should be judged the same — and in its lane?
This one is fun, messy, stylish, and worth the ride.

 Bottom line:
If you want deep terror and sleepless nights…this ain’t that movie.
If you want:
A badass lead Devil cult chaos Gore with style Horror-comedy madness And one unforgettable pig from Hell…
…then yeah, tap in.

MAN ON FILM — where we don’t just watch movies… we EXPERIENCE them.
Find out what worked, what didn’t, what had us cackling, and what had us side-eyeing the screen like:
“Now why would y’all do THAT??”
Tap in. Tell a friend. And remember:
If somebody asks you to sign your name on a rotting pig for eternal life…
baby, just go home.

MAN ON FILM: READY OR NOT 2
Welcome, welcome, WELCOME to the best show in the world — where it’s always raining men  — this is MAN ON FILM with your host Mr. Excellence… and this week?
Oh yeah…
READY OR NOT 2 is back — and baby… we got THOUGHTS.
Let’s start here:
This is a solid 70%… maybe 75% if you feeling generous.
Now don’t get it twisted — we were entertained …but did it go HARDER than the first one?
 …we gotta talk about it.
We’re diving into:
• A sequel that should’ve gone bigger… but kinda stayed in the same house • Samara Weaving still fighting for her LIFE (and making choices we side-eye HEAVY )• Sarah Michelle Gellar pulling up like she about to activate Buffy mode… and then NOT doing it • And Elijah Wood sliding in with that “evil lawyer / devil energy” like… sir… how did YOU even get here??
And listen…
We gotta address the REAL issues:
Why is nobody double-tapping ANYBODY?? Why are we making survival decisions like we WANT to die?? And WHY… after everything… are we STILL wearing the same bloody dress???
I’m talking:
This movie had moments where we were like:
“OH THIS ABOUT TO GO CRAZY—”
…and then…
 “…wait… that’s it?”

BUT — we’ll give credit where it’s due:

And yes… there’s just enough chaos to keep you watching
 Final verdict:
when you say “Part 2”…
IS IT WHAT WE WERE EXPECTING: Bigger? Wilder? MORE unhinged energy?!

 WE BREAK IT ALL DOWN:
• What worked (and what absolutely did NOT)• The plot holes you can drive a truck through • The characters we loved… and the ones we were ready to eliminate ourselves • And the moment that had us like: “WHO EVEN ARE YOU??”

 Bottom line:
If you liked the first one? You’ll rock with it.
If you wanted something bigger and crazier?
…DID PART2 DELIVER?!?

MAN ON FILM: PROJECT HAIL MARY

Welcome, welcome, WELCOME to the best show in the world — where it’s always raining MEN  — This is MAN ON FILM with your host, Mr. Xcellence, & special guest host Mr. Caravaggio bringing you laughs, hot takes, and elite-level movie talk you didn’t know you needed.
This week? We’re blasting off into PROJECT HAIL MARY  — starring the one and only Ryan Gosling, aka Ken, aka Notebook King, aka “carry-the-whole-movie-on-my-back” himself.
Let me say this CLEARLY: This is a 90% GO SEE IT NOW type of film.
We’re talking:
Big sci-fi ideas Unexpected heart Alien friendships that hit harder than your last relationship And yes… a rock that might steal the entire damn movie

This isn’t your typical “turn-your-brain-off” space flick. Nah — this one’s got: Humor Emotion Just enough “wait… what??” moments to keep you arguing with your friends after
And of course… we break it ALL down:
Is Ryan Gosling officially in his decade of dominance? Is Rocky (yeah… THAT Rocky ) the next Grogu-level icon? And why are we lowkey questioning some of the science while still loving every second of it?

We laugh. We debate. We nitpick. We give you the REAL.
Because that’s what we do.
Bottom line:If you like smart movies, fun movies, emotional movies — or just want something that doesn’t feel recycled — this is your ticket.

NEW EPISODE – MAN ON FILM  UNDERTONE vs MAN ON FILM
What happens when a horror movie about a podcast… forgets how podcasts work and what makes a movie interesting?
Yeah.....That’s Undertone. #MinimalistHorror
This week Andre Xcellence! steps into the booth ready for a creepy audio-horror experience… and instead walks out wondering if the movie owes him time, money, and emotional damages.
Directed and written by Ian Tuason, Undertone tries to build tension through mysterious audio recordings, creepy nursery rhymes, and a supernatural entity haunting a podcast investigation.
Unfortunately… it mostly feels like sitting through a bad podcast episode for 90 minutes.
And if you know Man on Film, you know we love horror — but when a movie markets itself like the next great audio nightmare and delivers three actors, two rooms, and a bunch of sound effects, we’re going to talk about it.
 Highlights from the episode ....#ZERO
A horror movie about podcasts that somehow doesn’t understand podcasts
Creepy children’s songs played backwards… because apparently that’s still a thing
The film feeling like 90% listening to a podcast and 10% actual movie
Marketing that was scarier than the movie itself
Andre reading the IMDB reviews and realizing everyone else is just as mad
 Directed & Written by:Ian Tuason
 Starring:Anisha KrishnanAdam DeMarcoMichelle Krusiec

MAN ON FILM Score: 1 out of 5 stars
Final Verdict:The marketing was spooky. The movie… not so much.
If you’re a hardcore horror completionist, maybe give it a look someday on streaming.
Otherwise?
You might have more fun just listening to our review.

NEW EPISODE DROP – MAN ON FILM
 SLANTED vs MAN ON FILM

What happens when a girl decides the fastest way to fit in… is to become blonde, white, and “socially acceptable”?Yeah. Slanted goes all the way there.
This week, Andre Xcellence! & Mr. Caravaggio break down one of the boldest, funniest, messiest, most conversation-starting movies of the year — a sharp satire about race, beauty, assimilation, high school politics, and just how far people will go to be crowned acceptable.
An Asian teen, tired of feeling invisible, signs up for an experimental procedure that literally transforms her into a blonde white girl — and from there the movie goes full chaos: prom queen ambition, identity crisis, racial satire, social climbing, creepy “ethnic enhancement” science, and one of the wildest fake commercials we’ve seen in a minute.
This movie is funny, uncomfortable, smart, savage, and absolutely not subtle. And honestly? That’s what makes it hit.

 Highlights from the episode
Olivia giving full Regina George energy and running the school like a tiny dictator
The “become white in 2 hours” science pitch being insane from jump
That disturbingly catchy “it’s good to be white” song living rent-free in the theater
A brutal satire on filters, beauty standards, race performance, and self-hate
One of the most thought-provoking endings we’ve had to argue about in a while

Starring:Shirley ChenMcKenna GraceVivian WuAmelie ZilberR. Sarathkumar
Written & Directed by Amy Wang

 MAN ON FILM Score: 85%
Final Verdict:Bold. Funny. Uncomfortable. Smart.A conversation-starter with teeth. Not for the overly fragile… but absolutely worth seeing.
If Mean Girls, The Substance, and identity politics had a weird, vicious little cinematic baby —Slanted would be it.

NEW EPISODE DROP – MAN ON FILM
 HOPPERS vs MAN ON FILM

Disney’s “Hoppers” hops into theaters with robot animals, insect politics, and a teenager trying to save the environment one beaver kingdom at a time.
This week on Man on Film, we jumped into Disney’s newest animated experiment — a movie where humans can “hop” into robotic animal bodies to communicate with wildlife. Naturally this leads to insect councils, ecosystem debates, and a surprising number of woodland creatures being very chill about the whole “someone might get eaten today” situation.
The story follows Mabel, a rebellious teen who uses experimental tech to connect with the animal world in order to stop developers from bulldozing the nature preserve her grandmother loved. Along the way we get beaver royalty, caterpillar villains, and a lot of Disney-style life lessons about nature, trust, and the circle of life.
But the big question remains…
Is Hoppers the next Toy Story or Lion King?Or is it just a cute Disney movie you put on so the kids stay quiet while you take an important phone call?
Let’s just say… the Man on Film jury had opinions.

Voice cast includes:Jon HammBobby MoynihanKathy NajimyDave FrancoSam RichardsonPiper Curda

 Highlights from the episode
A caterpillar villain that feels like the Disney version of Joffrey
Environmental messaging that hits you like a Pixar hammer
Talking animals calmly accepting the food chain like it’s a business meeting
Disney once again trying to sneak life lessons into a cartoon
A surprisingly stacked Hollywood voice cast

 MAN ON FILM Score: 70%
Final Verdict:Good animated movie for kids.Cute, weird, and occasionally funny.
But if someone puts Hoppers on for date night…you might want to reconsider the relationship.
