Man the helm

John Tron Davidson loves picks or plectrums.... I like plectrums better. He runs Heavy Repping which is his shop, blog, reviews, demos, and more in depth knowledge of plectrums than you could imagine! On top of all of that Heavy Repping carries plectrums from so many awesome builders with one familiar face from the podcast.... Honey Picks! Johns passion for plectrums is only trumped by his ability to create an awesome community and bridge the gap between small builders and the customers. I had such a great time sitting down and nerding out on plectrums and social media. Also sorry about the nature... the storm that can through on my end knocked out my power not once but twice while John and I were recording. but besides some technical difficulties I hope you enjoy this just as much as I did!

If you're on Tiktok and you're a guitar player I'm sure you've seen Jordan.wav running his guitar through all sorts of different items from his hair to soap and so many things in between. There is so much more to Jordan than just his viral success on Tiktok. We get into his back story of his first guitar, the people that taught his first lessons, becoming inspired from guitar hero and so much more. As you can imagine though we dive deep into Tiktok. Jordan is a wealth of knowledge not just on the guitar but as well as the music marketing, songwriting, and building pedals. The conversation Jordan and I had was probably one of the best conversations I have had the opportunity to to have. I had a great time and I'm sure you'll enjoy this weeks episode too!

Rick Calhoun and his brother are the creators, designers, and builders for their company Honey Picks. Based out of North Carolina they make possibly the best picks on the market at the moment...... at least in my opinion. Not only are they super functional but they are truly a work of art. Rick and I talk everything from is beginnings and the sick guitar he started on all the way up to where we are today. When it comes to guitar picks Rick is probably one of the most passionate people I've ever met. I can guarantee that any pick you get from Honey Picks has Rick pouring his heart and soul into to every one the leaves the shop. Rick is a phenomenal guest and I know y'all will enjoy this just as much as I did!

Lindy Day is a touring musician, a music educator, a social media influencer, and a super awesome person. I had a great time talking to Lindy all about her beginnings of playing in school bands and sneaking away with her sisters guitar all the way up to where she is today. You most likely know of Lindy from her lesson online but there's so much more to her teaching than just 60 second tiktok lesson. You can tell how passionate she is when it comes to teaching but it really comes through when she's teaching young aspiring musicians. I mean they are the future and I feel like Lindy is one of the best people for the job. We also get into how she had to pivot from touring to being online full time and some of the challenges with that immediate shift. All of this and so much more on this episode of Man The Helm!

Little bit different this week, unfortunately no guest but I've got a few topics to have you think over. Such as what does it mean to be successful? I go through the way back machine and talk about one of my best friends from my music store days. Questions answered from a TikTok video I posted as well as how I go about reaching out to artist and companies when in comes to the podcast. Plus the Wampler Gearbox is a year old today!
