It is 2020! Can you believe we made it through 2019! It’s a new year and a new decade, and that means taking some time to think about what is upcoming and what we would like to see God do this year, and that’s what the following message is all about. So many of us take some time to make resolutions this time of year, and many of us can’t stand this time of year because we believe somewhere deep down we’re setting ourselves up for failure. Well, whether you’re a resolution maker or hater, the possibility and potential signified by the onset of a new year is important to consider, so that’s what this message is about. Enlightenment isn't about learning or knowing more, it's about knowing what we know more fully and deeply. Paul writes to the Ephesians believers about their hope. It's easy to lose hope, and sometimes very hard to keep it. Where is the source of our hope when things get rough?

It's been a BUSY summer for Scott Mailhot, his family, and the youth ministry of MVCC. Listen as Scott describes some of the big challenges involved in making decisions to honor and serve God first with our time, our talents, and our treasure.

God is worthy of it all. No matter the cost, no matter the strain, no matter the outcome, he is worthy of all of our life and the very best that we have to offer, and for good reason.

And they sang a new song, saying, “Worthy are you to take the scroll and to open its seals, for you were slain, and by your blood you ransomed people for God from every tribe and language and people and nation, and you have made them a kingdom and priests to our God, and they shall reign on the earth.”

When you think of riches, what comes to mind? For Paul, here's what he thinks of as the true riches for every believer:

God the Father has

1. Blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places

2. Chosen us in Christ before the foundation of the world

3. Made us to be holy ones, blameless before him

4. Adopted us as sons and daughters through Jesus Christ

5. Redeemed us through his blood

6. Forgiven our trespasses according to the riches of his grace which he has lavished upon us

7. Revealed the mystery of his will to us will according to his purpose which he set forth in Christ

8. Given us access to a heavenly inheritance

9. Sealed us in the Holy Spirit

Saint "what"? Saint "who"? We generally only talk about "saints" if they're pictured somewhere in some stained glass window or if a sculpture or statue of them exists somewhere, but here's a little secret: All believers are saints...holy ones set apart for God's purposes in the earth.

This week we explore the ever-presence of God. He is an ever-present help (Psalm 46). God honors his children. They are always at his right hand. This symbol of authority and honor is very old. We find that the patriarchs would give the greater blessing by having the favored son stand at their right hand. The lesser blessing was offered to the son at their left hand. God doesn’t hold you in his left hand, he holds you in his strong right hand, the place of greatest honor, authority, blessing.
