July 08, 2018bbcr4Sunday 8/7/18 : A misunderstanding of law. There is no statutory requirement to report known or suspected abuse of either a child or an adultIt is a common misunderstanding and the very reason why the introduction of MR is essential. We lag the RoW...more1minPlay
June 24, 2018bbcr4 Sunday 24/6/18. CofE 2007/9 Past Case Review and Singleton's Report on it - David Greenwood and Bishop Hancock interviewedThe CofE was bounced into releasing Sir Roger Singleton's benign report into the disgraceful PCR in advance of Synod thanks to this BBC News story https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-44576201. The question arises, will Synod members who have concerns about the PCR and/or Singleton's opinions of this CofE safeguarding failure, say anything publicly during Synod? Understandably the PCR does not feature in the programme.Bishop Hancock says Singleton uses the word 'botched' to describe the PCR. 'Rumbled' seems more appropriate....more10minPlay

June 22, 2018#r4today 22/6/18 Sir Roger Singleton on the @churchofengland 2010 'review' of clerical abuse. 40k files were reduced to 13 cases of #CSA from all 42 dioceses.Sir Roger is seen as a 'safe pair of hands' by CofE. He claims that survivors are now listened to by the church, yet the headline in this BBC News report https://bbc.in/2Ig4EUV demonstrates they're not.As for his response to mandatory reporting and safeguarding in the church today (i) here is our review of CofE safeguarding which is dysfunctional http://bit.ly/2FooYlu . The review featured significantly in the recent IICSA Anglican hearing. And (ii) Sir Roger claims that the church has 'strengthened its (safeguarding) guidance' which is an absurd suggestion. 'Strengthened guidance' remains 'guidance' which is always discretionary. Sir Roger does not need this explaining to him....more7minPlay
May 02, 2018Abuse in Sport debate 1/5/18 (Part 2). Dr Allin-Khan shadow sports minister stressed the need for #MR but in reply the Sports Minister Rt Hon Tracey Crouch remained #MR silentMs Crouch gushed undeserved compliments about the NSPCC CPSU operation which so spectacularly erred over the FA safeguarding policy as you can read here http://bit.ly/2JFUtKc in this December 2016 post that coincided with the HoL debate - Abuse in Football. Our review was repeatedly referred to during the debate. As our post revealed, the NSPCC CPSU endorsed the FA child protection that was legally wrong. The Minister's reply to the debate seemed to suggest that safeguarding just needed incremental improvements at the edges. Baroness Grey-Thompson supports the introduction of MR as her Duty of Care in Sport report made clear. The Government's rejection of MR delivered in March 18 was absent of empirical evidence to support its position. It had nothing to do with child protection but everything to do with keeping referrals to a minimum http://bit.ly/2rdxVsv to save money....more31minPlay
May 01, 2018Abuse in Sport debate 1/5/18 secured by Bambos Charalambous MP (Part 1). Functioning safeguarding in #RA's has a vital missing component - #MRBut in this first part of the debate there is no mention of MR, the culture change law which is so desperately needed in Regulated Activities. Home nations (excl NI) are among the 18% of developed nations that do not place a statutory duty on adults working with children in Regulated Activities to report known or suspected abuse https://goo.gl/h6YJbd. We are in the backwoods of child protection in Regulated Activities....more29minPlay
