The Manlihood Mission is to Educate, Equip, and Entertain Men in an Engaging Way.
Vision:
The Manlihood vision is to create resources to educate and equip men, to foster a thriving community of men, where bonds of brotherhood and accountability form. We seek to help men be better fathers, husbands, leaders, friends. We want to build through Manlihood a financially sustainable architecture that can support itself, but also to incubate ideas and opportunities from within the Manlihood community that support our purpose and mission.

1. Men matter.
2. Family matters.
3. Integrity and Honor matter.
4. Personal Responsibility matters. (If it is to be, it’s up to me.)
5. Men thrive and grow in community and brotherhood with each other.

It’s so easy to fall into the trap of entropy - to let things get away from you. And it’s not something we can fix overnight! We can’t instantly change the unhealthy habits we’ve built. But we CAN start now with one habit, or two or three habits that we start building, and as we get it in place, we add more. Or if we’re killing habits, we kill one or two at a time.
Do the heart workNick Matiash talks about doing the heart work, so that you can do the hard work. The truth is, most men have never really learned how to properly deal with their emotional health. We’re conditioned to believe that emotions are bad, and we learn to stuff them, rather than to properly deal with them. Then, when our emotions seruface, they’re unruly and ugly. If you need a place to start on this, I recommend Jason Wilson’s book, Battle Cry.
Change your m indMen, Changing our behavior starts be changing our feelings. Changing our feelings starts by changing our thoughts. We have to learn to change the way we think. Repeating truth into our brain, rooting out the lies we believe, and replacing it with truth is a life changer. The biggest battle for any man is the battle to control and guide his thoughts. Learn this, and you can do anything you want to do.
Take ownershipMen who take ownership of their lives are men whose lives improve. If you want to upgrade your masculinity, you’ll embrace your responsibilities. You’ll acknowledge your mistakes, and you’ll acknowledge that your success is up to you and your decisions as well.
Get Around Other MenIt’s tempting to want to go it alone. It’s easier sometimes, to avoid the drama and the confrontation and the discomfort of having people in your seem to poke their noses in your business. But the truth is - if you want to be a better man, you’ll be around other men who want to encourage you and who call you higher.

In the past few years, for a number of reasons, there’s been a dramatic increase in the number of families choosing to homeschool. Many had no choice but to opt into an “at home” model during the pandemic, and that created a number of situations where parents decided that home was the best place for their children to learn. Today’s guest, Philip Mott is an expert, not only in education, but in homeschooling. As a student in his early years Philip struggled. He was disengaged and did not take a liking to school in the least. Over the years as a reluctant learner, Philip started understanding more and more about the education system and diving into the reasons why children feel the way he did. This led him to believe that a systemic issue existed in the way we educate and relate to children. This sparked a passion in Philip that drove him to become a teacher himself. His vision is to help kids and parents take an alternative approach to education in order to have the best outcome for both student and parent. Philip is changing the way families look at education timelines and support while working with their kids. Philip Mott is a writer, community facilitator and father. Philip holds a Bachelor’s of Science in Elementary Education. His focus is on empowering students to be self-directed learners and honoring the humanity of our children in all our interactions with them. Philip writes for newspapers, magazines and blogs covering alternative education approaches and homeschooling. He is also in the process of writing his first book. In this episode, Josh Hatcher talks about the myth of masculine and feminine energies. Men do not have a feminine side. Creativity, nurturing, are not feminine qualities. They are human qualities. And men express them in a masculine way, as women express them in a feminine way. Culture tries to view gender as fluid. But it is not. Men are men. Women are women. Understanding that it’s not wrong for a man to be more sensitive and gentle, or for a man to be more tough or aggressive is important. Sensitivity and gentleness can be very masculine, and can be expressed by a man in a masculine way. We do not need to ascribe these kinds of qualities only to femininity.
