Lenny and KimmyB are back and things are getting heated inside the ManCave.  This week we’re dissecting yet another controversial headline involving Teachers and what some people view as yet another Public School System crossing the line.  As the culture wars continue in and around this great nation of ours it’s safe to say our Public Education System has become a hot bed of dissent and our teachers continue to find themselves under constant and ever increasing scrutiny and pressure, but where should we draw the line between teaching and parenting?  Should schools be a safe space? To what extent? Are you ok with your kids confiding in their teachers? Do you expect teachers to relay things said in confidence to you or can they use their discretion?  When it comes to kids emotions are always heightened and while people will most definitely disagree on the appropriate way to move forward these are very real questions and it’s important that we continue to have these important conversations so get ready ‘cuz it’s time to ManTFUp!

The Midwest is Back & Representing in the ManCave as Lenny and KimmyB sit down with Harle, a social worker & non-profit fundraiser from Western Michigan.  Harle is bringing some incredible insight on a multitude of topics including veteran affairs, food insecurity, socio-economics, the lgbtqia+ fight, Florida’s ‘Don’t Say Gay’ Bill, and the #ChildFree Community!

As far as 2022 goes there are plenty of situations and conversations that can and do keep us up at night and this week on the ManTFUp Podcast KimmyB and Lenny are getting into one of the main culprits…the Economy.  As we all know, gas prices & inflation are wreaking havoc on the bank accounts of working class American families and just recently another giant American retailer announced major store closings and lay-offs. This has Kimmy genuinely concerned about the ever widening income gap and continuously shrinking “blue color”/“no degree necessary” job market.  With the landscape of traditional retail eroding & the on-line marketplace growing exponentially,  and the increase in the cost of living severely outpacing any viable or meaningful mass wage increases the question is…what opportunities remain for the average American worker looking for job security, a liveable wage, and the ability to work and provide for their family while also allowing them to prepare for retirement? If these opportunities exist at all, who has access to them & how do we prepare future generations for the shifts that are coming?

Whatever the answer one thing is certain…It’s Time to ManTFUp!!!

This week KimmyB and Lenny are welcoming back one of their favorite guests from season 1 of the ManTFUp Podcast, the incredibly talented, extremely funny, and always brutally honest comedian Brittany Brave. In this episode we get into standup & politics, parents & pronouns, and the dangers of a Rogue and Unchecked SCOTUS, but more important we get into why making jokes about all of it might be the one thing that saves the America we know and love from going full on Hand Maids Tale!!!

Season 2 is underway and KimmyB and Lenny are back in the ManCave with more thought provoking conversations, including this weeks podcast with activist, advocate, and world renowned drag queen Misty Eyez Alicea.

We asked Misty to come on the ManTFUp podcast for multiple reasons the first and foremost being representation; you can’t have insightful, well-rounded & truthful discussion on difficult issues that are impacting marginalized communities without a member of that community present to add a real and credible perspective to the conversation.  So with that said, Misty is here to answer our questions and address and dispel as many of the falsities and mis-conceptions (many of which are extremely negative and hurtful) that have been perpetuated throughout the ages surrounding and regarding the Transgender community.  As an advocate and activist heavily involved in the LGBTQIA+ community Misty breaks down what it is to be “trans”, not only from a societal and cultural perspective but also medically and biologically. We also go pretty deep into the current issues and fights facing the lgbtqia+ community with a focus on the increasing number of legislative attacks on trans youth & the transgender community as a whole here in Florida and around the nation.

Misty’s journey is one of trials and triumphs, breakdowns and breakthroughs, tests and an incredible testimony. Whether you’re an ally or an adversary, and we know there will be both and everything in between, it will be difficult to hear her story and not admit that it’s a quintessential example of How to…#ManTFUp!!!

Kendra is a true BOSS among Bosses and she’s come to share her story of survival along with the kind of knowledge one can only achieve through personal experience.  It’s clear she hopes that her story will save someone else from having to experience the horrors that she did.  She’s also committed to educating the rest of us as to the common misperceptions surrounding trafficking, including who is at-risk & how trafficking  happens; and, our girl is armed with an arsenal of tips, tools, and identifiers that we can use to help raise our own awareness & provide the community as a whole with a better ability to do our part to put an end to human trafficking. 

Kendra is so much more than a survivor of sex-trafficking.  She’s a mother,  a business owner, a certified firearms & weapons instructor, an advocate & educator, and most important a shining example that there is life after tragedy, and that healing & recovery can & will happen…if you do the work…If you are willing to MANTFUP.
