Arrogance is a character trait that is common and in some arenas celebrated as self-confidence; however, the believer must always remember that love does not boast, it does not puff itself up, it is not vain. This sermon will delve deeper into the parable of the Pharisee and the publican who prayed, and seek to find the heart of humility that pleases God.

The conclusion of Paul's letter contrasts the physical scars of the apostle Paul who endured great suffering for the cross with the cowardly attitude of the false teachers who were unwilling to suffer. The scars Paul bore pointed to the Saviour He worshiped. Because Paul's life was marked by Jesus, eventually, his body was marked by the same people who hated and crucified Christ. Believers today ought to bear the marks of Jesus as well; maybe not physically, but our lives must be consistent with our message.

Envy destroys marriages, damages relationships, and infects people like very few vices can. Rather than thanking God for what He has given and trusting that God knows best, envy challenges God's goodness by desiring to have what God has given another. True love does not envy; rather, true love desires what is best for the other, rather than what is most pleasing for themselves.

The cross is the central historical event that defines Christianity. If not for the cross, we are doomed for judgment; because of the cross, we can be forgiven, pardoned, and granted perfect righteousness. For this reason, Paul chose to make this terrible instrument of death his sole reason for living. And so should we.

Love is kind. We see this truth exemplified in God's love toward sinners and we see it fleshed out as the Gospels tell the story of Jesus' life. Be kind to those who are unkind to you, be kind to those who have nothing to offer, be kind to those who don't deserve it; this is what it means to love as Christ loved.

The universal principle, "You reap what you sow" is applied by Paul to the lives of the believers in Galatia. Unfortunately far too many people are convinced that consequences do not apply to them. Paul reminds us that divine reward and divine retribution are both promises made by an all powerful God who is the judge over all creation.

The law of sowing and reaping, namely; you reap what you sow, is never questioned in the physical realm. In this text, Paul explains that the same law applies to the spiritual lives of believers. Sowing to the flesh will reap decay, corruption, and death; sowing to the spirit will reap eternal benefit.
