In August 1982, 18-year-old Jerry Hillard and his fiance 19-year-old Marilyn Green went to the public pool after hours to cool down. It was a scorching August night in Chicago and there many other people there doing the same exact thing. But, gunshots rang out at the pool, both Jerry and Marilyn were shot, and later died from their wounds.

Anthony Porter was freed by the Northwestern University innocence project, and subsequently, Alstory Simon was convicted and sent to jail.
