Recently, my wife and I were fortunate enough to travel to the Holy Land. Our visit was a great time of renewal, refreshment, and rededication to the Lord.

On today’s episode, I discuss our pilgrimage to Israel (specifically Jerusalem) with our tour leader, Tom Short.  

Tom takes you through each of the sites as if you were riding along in our tour bus. The locations we discuss include the Mt of Olives, Gethsemane, Bethlehem, Via Dolorosa, Garden Tomb, and Wailing Wall, etc. Our discussion brings the Bible alive and will help you understand some of the recent historical developments and archaeological finds.

I just returned from the Holy Land – Israel! And I have a lot to talk about. 

On today’s episode, I interview Sandy Shoshani National Director of Be'ad Chaim from Israel Pro-life about the current state of the abortion debate.

Sandy shares about the current laws (or lack thereof) restricting abortion. She also discusses how a country comprising the three monotheistic religions can accept abortion, and how people who went through the holocaust can be perpetrating another holocaust on their own people.

Since the fall of Roe v. Wade, the pro-life movement has struggled to curb the growth of abortion. Pro-life advocates have lost five votes on constitutional amendments in California, Vermont, Kentucky, Kansas, Montana, and Michigan.

For several decades, polling indicates that Americans want abortion to remain legal in most cases. Despite the overturning of Roe, the pro-life movement has yet to win over the American public.

In this episode of "The Mark Harrington Show", Peter Range from Ohio Right to Life will join Mark as a guest. Peter will discuss the likelihood of pro-abortion advocates introducing an abortion amendment in Ohio and suggest ways to defeat it.

The pro-life movement must now focus on defense. To effectively defend winnable states, the movement should retreat from "occupied states". However, the pro-life movement's lack of cooperation may prevent such a strategy from being adopted. Groups and leaders are often protective of their resources and donors. This strategy may require reallocating resources to battleground states, at least temporarily.

If the pro-life movement doesn't change its approach and work together, it could be in an even worse position in five years than it was before Roe v. Wade was overturned. The movement risks losing the gains it has made over recent decades if it doesn't fight together.

It's time to treat this battle as a land war and make strategic decisions to retreat and defend winnable states. Once these states are secure, the movement can start to retake the ground it has lost.

On Saturday, February 4, 2023, pro-lifers are conducting a nationwide protest at CVS and Walgreen pharmacies for their intention to begin dispensing abortion pills.

Are these protests a good idea? Will they succeed in stopping the expansion of abortion? Will the pro-life movement have the commitment to pressure these corporations over the long run?

The fact is boycotts and protests against corporations are about endurance. These campaigns are also about modulating conflict and leveraging resources. We need to be wise as serpents.

In the recent past, Created Equal was successful for a time in achieving a positive outcome against Stericycle with our Project Weak Link campaign. But Stericycle waited us out and interest in the pressure campaign waned amongst our pro-life troops. Unfortunately, Stericycle still hauls away dead corpses of unborn babies.

Large companies are hardened targets and difficult to motivate because they are often willing to tolerate boycotts and protests until they affect their reputation and bottom line.

This campaign must be able to last over months and years using few resources. If that doesn’t happen – this effort will likely fail. Why? Because when pro-life advocates don’t see results (a pharmacy refusing to sell the abortion pill) human nature sets in and they go home.

Last September California Governor Gavin Newsom’s campaign paid to promote abortion via public billboards in seven states, including Ohio. Some of these billboards said, “Ohio doesn’t own your body. You do.” Newsom also posted billboards using the words of Jesus to invite people to travel to California for abortions. The scripture Newsom used was, “Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no commandment greater than these.” - Mark 12:31

In response to Newsom’s blasphemous billboards, a coalition of pro-life organizations is placing billboards in the same locations as Newsom posted his pro-abortion billboards. One such billboard is in Columbus, OH.

Laws around parenthood are rapidly changing. Mothers and fathers are now considered legally optional, and biology is being replaced by “intent” to parent. Functionally, that makes children commodities to be cut and pasted into any/every adult relationship. Unlike adoption, which seeks to protect children by requiring adults to undergo vetting and screening prior to placement, new parenthood laws award children to whichever adult has the money and means to acquire them. And that is an injustice that puts both individual children, as well as all of society, at risk.

In the first half of today’s episode, Mark talks with Katy Faust, Founder and Director of Them Before Us. Katy is married to a pastor and is a mother of four children, the youngest of whom is adopted from China.

The University of California accepts millions of dollars each year in tax funding that supplies a steady stream of late-term fetal organs from pain-capable and viable children. These children are dismembered nearly half of the time without being euthanized. Research suggests that this results in born-alive infants in 50% of the cases.

In the latter half of today’s episode, Mark gets an update from AJ Hurley from Survivors of the Abortion Holocaust who is leading the effort to expose these atrocities.

In 2017, scientists created a “BioBag” that functioned as an artificial womb, and they used it to grow a baby lamb. Now, a new concept has been unveiled showing how the same could be done for humans. Soon Ectolife, the world’s first artificial womb facility, will be able to grow 30,000 babies a year.

At first viewing, I thought Ectolife’s video was a trailer for a new sci-fi movie. Sadly, that isn’t the case.

In this film, Ectolife promises to eliminate miscarriage, and infertility and create a super race of humans through genetically modifying babies using artificial growth pods.

Also, emboldened by their recent wins, a pro-abortion group is drafting language, creating a coalition, and raising money to enshrine abortion in the Ohio Constitution. Ohio Physicians for Reproductive Rights announced Monday it has formed Protect Choice Ohio, a coalition that is aiming to put a proposed amendment on the ballot on Nov. 7, 2023. 

Mark will unpack the implications for the state of Ohio and the nation of this development.
