Market View: Bond yields are surging. What you need to know.

Across the world, bond yields have surged. US Treasury yields are soaring, propelling the rate on the 10-year note to the brink of the 5% mark rarely seen since the global financial crisis. In fact, the 10-year Treasury yield has touched a fresh 14-month high as investors looked ahead to key inflation data. British 30-year government bond yields have climbed to their highest level in 27 years, reflecting an ongoing gilt market selloff. The increase extended a gilt market selloff into its second week. Japanese bond yields are rising too. What is going on and what does the bond market convulsion mean for investors? Isaac Lim, Chief Market Strategist of investment and trading platform Moomoo gives his take on current developments.
