The shopping mall is the gathering hole of urbanites. The temperature inside is controlled, the retail offerings pre-selected for the promised catchment area. But with so many malls and shopping centres to choose from, how does any one of them try to carve a niche for itself, balancing retailers’ and consumers’ interests.
