  • MSL 009: Lab Rant – Grant Cardone 10X Rule – Never Lower Your Price…Add Value!
In this Marketing Strategy Lab "Lab Rant" Jason talks about one of his new favorite books "The 10X Rule" by Grant Cardone"
The quote of today is "Never Lower Your Price...Add Value" - Grant Cardone
We often see businesses that try to acquire new customers by being the lowest priced in the market.  If you take a moment to shift your mindset to increasing price and also adding massive value, not only does your client get a better experience, but they also are much more likely to take action and get results because they are more mentally invested in the outcome.
When we offer low priced material, people either don't take it seriously, or don't take action at all.  You would be shocked how many people buy a $97-$197 course from us and only log in one time.
If you sell anything, look for ways to add value and increase your prices.

What do you say about this kid... Mr. Johnny Football himself?
You're either going to love him or just hate him!
I personally think he's so damn obnoxious with his money sign touchdowns that it forces me to watch his games!
The crazy part about this guy is... he hasn't played a single NFL game yet, the Johnny Manziel's jersey sales were already ridiculous.  This proves that, even in football, people rather bet on the jockey then bet on the horse.
I'm still puzzled as to why Dallas Cowboys didn't pick him up. Maybe it had to do with a guy named Romo but the word on the street is... "Tony Romo chokes in the playoffs." :)
    Back to the rant...
I don't agree with everything this kid has been doing off the football field but his "star power" is really something to look at. The big question will now be...
1). Will you be the next Tim Tebow
    or
    2). The next Russel Wilson
Until August 23rd when the Cleveland plays St. Louis... we'll never know how this kid will play but for now, the jersey sales are something to respect... it's hard not to like a guy who makes the Scooby suit look cool. LOL

  • MSL 006: TTT – GOLD! Shovels, Picks, and Pans? (A History Lesson About Samuel Brannan)
In this episode of Marketing Strategy Lab's "Think Tank Thursday" we discuss the first Gold Rush Millionaire named Samuel Brannan. Who is Sammeul Brannan?
Samuel Brannan (March 2, 1819 – May 5, 1889) was an American settler, businessman, and journalist, who founded the California Star newspaper in San Francisco, California. He is considered the first publicist of the California Gold Rush and was its first millionaire. Brannan was a colorful, energetic figure in the mid-19th-century history of California and especially of San Francisco. (Wikipedia)

    July 24, 2014 @ 03:35 PM
This our first episode of "Think Tank Thursday" and in this episode I wanted to hit home on the concept of "Shovels, Picks, and Pans". In sales, 99.9% of the time your customer/client typically knows "what the gold is" and they just don't know how to dig for it. Your job as a marketer is to give the solution a.k.a. the "Shovels, Picks, and Pans". The challenge of this concept is...
What is Shovels, Picks, and Pans?
The easiest way to describe what shovels, picks, and pans are is this... they are basically what the masses want. This can be directly related to the product/service OR it can be indirect.
Let me give you examples from my business life.
My core business is real estate investments and now I have three different income streams using the shovel, picks, and pans concept.
    1) Selling information products to people who wanted to learn the business.
    2) Selling construction materials for people who where already flipping houses
    3) Consulting investment firms on how to build a front-end marketing machine to generate motivated seller and buyer leads
Now... my new "shovels, picks, and pans" in Marketing Strategy Lab will be (drum roll please)...
    What the heck is this?
We just recently partnered with a very talented musician. He is creating us 101+ royalty free background music tracks. The reason why we wanted to come out with this product is...
    1) Podcasters, marketers, YouTubers, and anyone who is NOT using royalty free music can get sued. Just recently, YouTube make-up artist Michelle Phan getting sued for $7,500,000 by Ultra Records for copyright infringement.
The funny part about this law suit is... Michelle's intention was to promote other artists to her huge YouTube followers. Kaskade, whose music has been featured in Michelle's videos, has publicly defended Michelle against Ultra Record's claims and acknowledges the success he's gained from her support.
Phan rose to fame for her makeup tutorial videos that went viral on YouTube. She was last reported to make a whopping $5,000,000 in 2012 (click here).
    2) We know every other royalty free music stinks. So why not add a little more flavor and style turning it into the biggest shovels, picks, and pans in the podcast industry. :)
    FINAL THOUGHT
In business, you have so many shovels, picks, and pans to choose from.
Here's a quick list of our clients' shovels, picks, and pans. We can't disclose the "exact" product or name but we'll give you the industry and what the shovels, picks, and pans are.

  • MSL 005: Lab Rant – Kim Kardashian = Marketing Genius?

    July 4, 2014 @ 01:02 AM
    Hey Jeff Coga here,
I have a question for you...
What does Kimye (Kim + Kanye)...
And these companies (see below) have in common?

Do you have your answer yet!?!
If you guessed, they're all well-known brands... you're right!
You can love or hate "Kimye" but they are a power couple that are known by bajillions of people (yes, I made up that word). The power and social influence these two people have is what gives them power. This super power is what we call social equity.
What is Social Equity and Why Is It Important?
Social equity is the perceived value of individual, organization, or brand reputation and following online. This value increases or decreases based on the online buzz and conversations that take place across the various social media channels on the internet which ultimately transcend to the offline world.
This is the reason why I constantly tell people to grow your own social equity (brand their name) because companies come and go, while your own personal brand will be around for a long time. It is now VERY difficult to make a multinational brand. The reason is: market forces. The big boys won't let you in, period. It's far more easier now to build a personal brand and use the influence to parlay that into other opportunities. Social equity is even more important because everyone 'googles' every one these days. People don't trust companies and people want to work with an individual.  I'm sure if you're reading this blog you're probably wondering who I am and what special skill or knowledge I have to even speak about the topic of "marketing".
    I don't have any qualifications other then respecting Kim's game.  I couldn't find another video game voice-over 'reality-tv star/model' ever making $85,000,000. #RESPECT #GAMERECOGNIZESGAME
