This is the Marketplace Minute. I’m Nancy Marshall Genzer.
STORY 1
Stocks…closed mixed
The Dow ended up...about seven tenths percent.
The S&P gained about a third of a percent.
And the NASDAQ was down...six tenths percent.
STORY 2
The Federal Reserve’s preferred inflation gauge, was up less than expected in May. Core PCE rose a half percent. This month-to-month number is the one everyone’s watching right now….because it tells us whether inflation really is temporary…. as the Fed is insisting.
STORY 3
Vice president Kamala Harris visited the US Mexico border at El Paso, Texas. Harris talked about the “root causes” of migration. Including poverty, crime and corruption.

And FedEx reported higher than expected fourth quarter sales and profits. It was boosted by continued growth in e-commerce. And increases in business shipping. As more companies re-opened. FedEx sales were up 30 percent over the same time last year.
