Ministry can be and often is messy. It's often physically, emotionally, and spiritually exhausting. Why do we do it? Because of our love and obedience to Jesus.
In this episode, Nicole shares an impactful passage she found that discusses two people who had a lot to lose in terms of their political and religious status at the time. DJ and Nicole discuss the costs of these two people burying Jesus and how it can impact their own and others' ministry work.
Numbers 19:11 ESV
“Whoever touches the dead body of any person shall be unclean seven days.
He shall cleanse himself with the water on the third day and on the seventh day, and so be clean. But if he does not cleanse himself on the third day and on the seventh day, he will not become clean."
John 19:38-42 ESV
After these things Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, asked Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus, and Pilate gave him permission. So he came and took away his body. 39 Nicodemus also, who earlier had come to Jesus by night, came bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds in weight. 40 So they took the body of Jesus and bound it in linen cloths with the spices, as is the burial custom of the Jews. 41 Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden, and in the garden a new tomb in which no one had yet been laid. 42 So because of the Jewish day of Preparation, since the tomb was close at hand, they laid Jesus there.

Have you ever considered all the various ways we waste the most precious commodity of all? That commodity is time. It seems like we are all guilty of this at some point in time. DJ and Nicole are no exception.
Busyness may not be bad in and of itself, but do we ever consider the eternal consequences of busyness? In this episode, DJ and Nicole discuss busyness in various forms and the impacts they have witnessed during their lives.
Psalm 46:10 ESV
“Be still, and know that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!”
Ephesians 5:15-21 ESV
Look carefully then how you walk, not as unwise but as wise, 16 making the best use of the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is. 18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but be filled with the Spirit, 19 addressing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with your heart, 20 giving thanks always and for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, 21 submitting to one another out of reverence for Christ.

There's a saying that laughter is the best medicine. In many cases, this is true. Marriage is not always easy, but there are also lighthearted moments that we take for granted. Every marriage needs laughter. Every follower of Jesus needs laughter as well. Join DJ and Nicole as they discuss the importance of laughter in marriage and faith.
Proverbs 17:22 ESV
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
Psalm 126:2-3 ESV
2 Then our mouth was filled with laughter, and our tongue with shouts of joy; then they said among the nations, “The Lord has done great things for them.” 3 The Lord has done great things for us; we are glad.

Perhaps you are facing a situation or a season where you wonder how the Lord is going to help you through it. Maybe you are in that situation or season right now.
On this episode, DJ and Nicole discuss a season they are coming into where their faith in God's provision will be tested. The honesty of the situation is quoting part of Mark 9:24:"'I believe; help my unbelief!'"
Matthew 6:31-34 ESV
31 Therefore do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For the Gentiles seek after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. 34 “Therefore, do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

We all love the mountain-top experiences in our faith journey. However, God will not let us stay there because He wants us to grow. Where do we grow? The reality is that most of our growth happens in the valleys. In this episode, we discuss coming off our mountain-top experiences and looking at how God wants us to grow in our faith journey continually.
Look at the story of Elijah in the Bible. He came off the mountain-top experience of God, involving him in the destruction of the prophets of Baal. The next thing we see is that Elijah is on the run.

Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. 6 In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.
Matthew 7:7-8 ESV
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. 8 For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened.
Joshua 3:13 ESV
And when the soles of the feet of the priests bearing the ark of the Lord, the Lord of all the earth, shall rest in the waters of the Jordan, the waters of the Jordan shall be cut off from flowing, and the waters coming down from above shall stand in one heap.”

Proverbs 27:17 ESV
" Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another."
You read that correctly, Nicole is sending DJ to Man Camp put on by Koloff for Christ Ministries. ( https://mancamp.info/ ) ( https://www.koloff.net/ )
DJ doesn't fully know what to expect, but that's okay. Christian men need other Christian men to go through their walk of faith, just as Christian women need other Christian women to come alongside them in their walk.
This podcast episode was recorded prior to DJ heading to Man Camp. Another episode will be recorded after his return.
1 Peter 4:12-13 ESV
12 Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery trial when it comes upon you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. 13 But rejoice insofar as you share Christ's sufferings, that you may also rejoice and be glad when his glory is revealed.
