Respect and effective communication are important in any relationship. When these important values and skills are missing in relationships, there's bound to be confusion, misunderstanding and chaos. This is what we see in the play, The Proposal, by Anton Chekov. The major theme in The Proposal  is satire of the landowning class in 19th-century Russia. As mentioned in the context section of the play, the landowners were a small, privileged class who were notoriously conservative in clinging to old values that defined them. Let's understand what was wrong in the way the characters look at marriage and relationships and what can we learn from their mistakes. 

In the past, "discipline" often meant revoked privileges for poor behaviour. No television for a week. Didn't do your homework? Forget that movie. However, although this old school approach can make kids cooperate in the short term, research now shows that it's not the best way to teach lifelong lessons.

These days, many experts encourage to let kids experience what they call "the natural consequences of their actions" instead. If your child refuses to wear their jacket, just let them be cold—and they probably won't put up a fight the next time.

Natural consequences are like Good carbohydrates.  When we let children learn from natural consequences, they’re more likely to understand the repercussions of their actions. 

A girl was trapped by the greedy loan shark. Would creative problem solving and critical thinking save her life? Why is Creative Problem Solving so important today? Creative problem solving (CPS) is crucial today because it is a way of solving problems or identifying opportunities when conventional thinking has failed. It encourages you to find fresh perspectives and come up with innovative solutions, so that you can formulate a plan to overcome obstacles and reach your goals. And a story is the best way to understand this.

'The Necklace' is a French story written in 1884 by Guy de Maupassant. The story follows Madame Mathilde and her husband. Mathilde believed that she would one day have a high social position in life. She was just an ordinary woman with extraordinary and unrealistic desires. Her husband was a good man and loved her. He tried to give her everything he could to make her happy. But does money or things make people happy? The moral lesson of the story is that we should not judge people by appearances because they might appear to be rich and successful but it could be just a façade. It also teaches us that we should not pine after material possessions and appreciate what we have.

It is believed that big hearts shape fragile minds. It is believed that warm hearts melt indifferences. It is believed that God works through people. I believe that God works through children. Listen to the voice of God in this story of a Major and his battalion.
