Wendy talks with Kristine Sorensen about kidsburgh.  This week they talked about kids and body image and social media.  They talked about how eating disorders can occur in all kids including athletes.

Wendy talks with local attorney and Marijuana advocate Patrick Nightingale.  Patrick talks about why legalizing pot could be a financial gain for the state.  They also talked about how businesses are dropping the zero tolerance attitude towards drug testing because companies are finding a harder time finding employees.

Wendy talks with PA Auditor General Eugene DePasquale about the backlog of rape kits in the state.  He said catching up on these rape kits will help get criminals off the street.  He said he feels the real number of backlog is 5,000 cases.  He says that they caught someone in North Dakota for a rape in Philadelphia in 2011.  He also said some of the kits went back to the early nineties.

A New Jersey high school does something beautiful to provide a welcoming, safe place for students whose home lives often involve a scarcity of food and too much time spent on the streets. Listen now as Principal Akbar Cook explains how his students aren't just staying safe. They're staying alive.

A local father heard Marty and Wendy interviewing Kim Bishop, whose 30 year old son has been addicted for a decade to heroin. She doesn't know if he'll survive his addiction, but fears he will not. A listener named Paul called in to offer Kim his own story about his own son's addiction (which he survived) ... and told her why she should never give up.

Marty and Wendy talk with attorney Marty Dietz about the parents who pleaded not guilty in the college scandal.  Marty says they plead guilty for several reasons.  He says some of these people probably think they are not guilty.  He says they might just want more time to negotiate.

Local mother Kim Bishop talks to Marty and Wendy about her son, who, for the last 10 years, has been addicted to drugs. Listen now as Kim whispers matter-of-factly about how she put a piece of paper in her son's wallet with her phone number and name so that when he overdoses and dies, the person who finds him will know to whom he belongs.

Marty and Wendy talk with Dr Anotonio D’Amore , a research assistant  at the department of Surgery and bio-engineering at Pitt says this story of a 3-D printed heart shows real promise and these are baby steps but it shows that this is possible in the future.  He says that at Pitt they are using technology to help with tissue engineering.  He says that he can see this in the future.

The owner of a 7-Eleven had a decision to make: Either call the cops and have the boy shoplifting from his store arrested, or speak to the kid and dig down into the reason for his theft. What happened next had other shoppers who watched it happen taking pictures and sharing the touching story online. Enjoy.

Marty and Wendy talk with Chuck Hellein, father of the Fayette County kid that was kicked out of school for telling school therapist his thoughts.  Chuck said that this will not be on his record.  Tyler said he is getting support from his classmates.
