  • Push The Point #132: Off Season Wrap-up (2022)
We kick off with a brief recap of our experiences with the Overwatch 2 beta. We give our impressions after almost a week of play before further examining the differences in heroes and gameplay from OW 1 to OW 2. The beta seems to be going pretty well, but faulty messaging and weaker content areas still leave room for substantial improvement.
Next, we cover the past month of news from around the Overwatch League. With Season 5 just days away, teams are putting the finishing touches on their roster. Some squads have made a couple last minute additions to round things out, while some make sizeable cuts to fit their budget. We discuss how these moves affect each team in question and what we hope to see going into week 1 of Season 5.
Next, we cover the past month of news surrounding Activision Blizzard and its labor force. Thanks to vocal pushback, the company's labor force is making good strides, winning several key victories during April. At the same time, more stories concerning Bobby Kotick's behavior and mistreatment of employees continue to come out. We take notes on where things seem to be going for the company, its leadership, and labor force heading into the next season.
We wrap up the offseason by finally unveiling our 2022 Pre-season power rankings. We compare and contrast where we've placed each team respectively while predicting where they might end up come end of season.

  • WoW! Talk! #211: Diablo Immortal, Yes. NFTs, No.
Nick, Rei, Harv, and Eric are back to talk about what has been going on in the World of Warcraft lately. First, Rei talks about running Tazavesh using Dungeon Finder and having to do all the mechanics. She also talks about new guildies transferring in and making a new friend in LFR. She also talks about the Baubleworms pet vendor.
Eric talks about how Order of Corrupted Souls is 4/10, and then complains about his gearing, which leads to a discussion about the Great Vault. Nick speculates on how they could fix it and they talk about the problems inherent in its design, as well as what Blizzard needs to consider when iterating or developing a replacement. Eric comments that he would be happy if they brought back badges.
Nick talks about the Diablo Immortal announcement that open beta for pc starts on 6/2. He talks about how we can see how long Blizzard takes to develop games, because there were no plans to develop Diablo Immortal on pc as of November 2, 2018, and so in that time they were able to port the game to pc and work on improving it.
Next, they talk about the recent news, including that an encrypted patch 10.0 has been detected on the WoWDev server. Nick cautions that this is common and means that alpha is probably still 6-8 weeks away.
Then, they talk about the recent kerfluffle around Blizzard asking about NFTs in a survey. The community responded swiftly and loudly that they would not be welcome, and Mike Ybarra had to issue a statement indicating that there are no plans for Blizzard to do anything with NFTs.
Finally, they take a quick look back at episode #211 which featured the Patch 8.0 quiz.

  • Squad Goals #45: Back Again for the First Time (on the Citadel and Normandy)
Nick, Chip, and Kurabara are back this week to talk about their experiences playing through the Mass Effect Legendary Edition! This week, they talk about their first return to the Citadel. Nick decides to dub either Kaiden or Ashley “The Major” while Chip argues they should just be called “Virmire Survivor.” Then, after recapping events, they talk about Diana Allers joining the Normandy in Zaeed’s old quarters. Next, they talk about the return of Bailey, now a Commander with C-Sec, and discuss the recurring theme of military officers hating politics. They review the expansiveness of the Citadel compared to the cramped quarters it was given in Mass Effect 2. They mention how the Citadel is away from the fighting in the galaxy as opposed to becoming a central hub at the end of Mass Effect 1.
They talk about visiting the hospital to check in on how the Major is doing. Although they aren’t awake yet, the guys talk about the gift giving mini-game that is present here. Kura comments on Kaiden’s nipples. They talk about Shepard cheerleading their comatose friend. Nick comments on the aesthetics of the Huerta logo on the windows. Kura mentions there is a lack of privacy in the hospital. They point out that all the rooms are the same, like in real hospitals. Kura talks about a soldier getting his leg amputated and then grown back.
Next, they visit the Embassy Suites. They meet Dominic Osoba, human ambassador to the Citadel. This leads to a discussion about bugs on the Citadel. Nick points out that Hackett is on an Alliance billboard. Also, C-Sec is advertising jobs in internal affairs. They visit the Spectre Station and compare the layout of the embassies to the quarters in Mass Effect 1. They talk about how the offices have moved.
Also on the Citadel, they mention the Blasto ad you can find which tells the story of the whole movie. They also wonder about the massive pits at the entrance to Purgatory. They discuss how Udina is now councillor regardless of your decisions from Mass Effect 1, and compare Earth and Citadel politics. They talk about how James is coming around to agreeing with Shepard, and how Dr. Michel is now running Huerta Memorial. They discuss the possibility of getting Dr. Chakwas.
Next, they finally get the chance to explore the Normandy. They talk about the scanner room hiding a loading screen. They talk about Traynor, who is now the major domo of the Normandy. They discuss Liara’s quarters, and try to understand the bed situation on the ship. They talk about Adams and how engineering is at risk of a plasma vent from the Mass Effect Core. They wonder if EDI could be indoctrinating the crew. They resume talking about Diana Allers’ quarters. They also mention new crew members KEI-9 and Steve Cortes, and finish by evaluating their sparring session with James Vega in light of Paragon Lost.
Finally, they talk about the Dream Sequence and the burning child, and try to evaluate Shepard’s psyche.
