  • Squad Goals #44: Mars Attacks!
Nick, Chip, and Kurabara are back to talk about their experiences playing through the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. This week, they make a quick stop on Mars as they flee the Solar System after the Reapers invaded. But first, they wonder briefly about what a Mass Effect prequel game could look like. Then they talk about how they keep getting more and more data from the Prothean Ruins.
After a recap of events, the guys talk about getting a chance to have Kaiden or Ashley join up with Liara for a Mass Effect 1 reunion. Then they talk about Liara as a stone cold killer who’s been hardened and likes killing Cerberus as she has been running up against the Illusive Man. Kura wonders where these troops were when we were with Cerberus. They consider Kaiden or Ashley’s mistrust of Shepard. They talk about how obvious it was that Dr. Eva was sabotaging the facility. Kura points out the brutality of Cerberus. They talk about Cerberus’ lack of morals as compared to Shepard (even renegade Shepard). Chip talks about the atmosphere of the base with the lights off. They discus how the combat feels in Mass Effect 3. Chip likes it with more open environments. Nick points out the opportunities to turn the tables on Cerberus. Kura mentions that the shield troops are annoying.
Next, they discuss how Hackett knew Liara was the Shadow Broker, and they evaluate Liara’s abilities as Shadow Broker. They consider the potential of a Mass Effect game set after a Reaper victory, where you are a lone colony left to begin reorganizing the universe. Liara wonders about these being the last days. They talk about Shepard’s confrontation with the Illusive Man and wonder about his super agent. They talk about the Illusive Man being angry about Shepard and Kura wonders if the Reapers got to the Illusive Man already. Nick comments that the Prothean Artifact looks like a PS4.
They talk about James crashing the shuttle and wonder if he has a deathwish. They discuss Dr. Eva’s manhandling of Kaiden or Ashley. Nick compares his interactions with Kaiden to his interactions with Ashley as a love interest. They talk about the Prothean blueprint that was discovered. Chip notes it is a macguffin. They wonder if the Reaper IFF is still aboard the Normandy.
Finally, they talk about an email that Shepard gets about Rana Thanoptis who was indoctrinated and killed some Asari generals.

  • Dropping Spicy #142: Server Woes and Passive Ability Tier List
In this episode, we discuss a Tweet from Conor Ford hinting at the possibility of a new LTM, a small patch with big fixes for Wattson, a relatively major server outage and "game logic" bug that's affected players over the past few days, and finally, an interesting r/Apexlegends post that aims to put every legend's passive into a tier list. Find out our thoughts on all of this, and more this time on Dropping Spicy!

  • WoW! Talk! #209: Hexagons and Holes (on Journalism and Leaks)
Nick, Rei, Harv, and Eric are back to talk about the latest goings on in World of Warcraft. First, Rei talks about her experience raiding through Sepulcher of the First Ones with a growing raid team. She and Nick get into a discussion about LFR and solutions for the problem of people quitting before the wing is completed. They talk about adjusting the rewards or even reworking LFR to allow people to queue for individual bosses. Rei also brings up the old Leroyspeltz scandal when he received a special wand from Blizzard and got banned.
Eric, meanwhile, talks about raiding on his warlock and enjoying Mythic+.
Nick talks about what he’s been doing in Zereth Mortis and then talks about what journalism means when applied to sites like WoWhead. He talks about how they are a fansite and there are considerations to be given about what it means when Blizzard employees leave the company. He talks about how the primary news service they offer is datamining, and compares the reaction to Lost.
In the news, Blizzard hired a new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer and is increasing the conquest weekly cap.
Then, they discuss the possible leak that the next expansion will be called Dragonflight. This seems plausiable and everyone is on board with the idea. Nick talks about how Shadowlands’ announcement had Ion invoke the cosmic chart and he does not expect that to happen again for this announcement.
Finally, they look back at episode #109 when the pre-Legion comics were released.

  • Squad Goals #43: The Beginning of the End
Nick, Chip, and Kurabara are back and they are finally ready to talk about Mass Effect 3. They begin by talking about the new systems in the game and the ability to jump over objects. Planetary scanning is generally regarded to be worse than ME2, but the combat is better. The guys go over how much better leveling feels, and talk about some builds as well as discuss some loadouts. They talk about the removal of multiplayer and the lack of mobile missions, and how neither are now required to get Galactic Readiness. They talk about the return of weapon mods. They also look at the evolution of the conversation wheel. Nick talks about a prior experience that leads to a discussion about when to do the Leviathan DLC.
Finally, they get into talking about the game proper. After a recap of the events of the opening chapter, Nick talks about how the intro gutted him, while Chip argues that it felt like a cheap emotional ploy. They compare the Earth to the Presidium on the Citadel, and Kura reveals his box from when he bought the game in 2012. They talk about the old Kinect voice commands for Xbox. Kura also shares his Cerberus Access Card. This leads to an off-topic discussion about manuals. They return to talking about the game by discussing Shepard’s connection, or lack thereof to the kid. They compare the human Council room to the Council room on the citadel. They argue about the futility of asking Shepard for help when the Reapers are imminently bearing down on them instead of planning for a solution while there was time. Nick wonders about Hackett’s role and if he has any ulterior motives. They look at the rate of the Reapers moving from the moon to Britain to Vancouver. They compare the video from Britain with Ashley’s video from Eden Prime in ME1. They discuss the return of Anderson and he serves as the tutorial. Shepard can now make jumps! They get into the return of Kaiden or Ashley, and talk about Ashley visual improvements. They discuss whether the dialog makes more sense based on if Shepard was in a relationship with the characters. They talk about meeting James in game, and how it differs based on whether or not you’ve seen Paragon Lost. They talk about being sent to Mars next.

  • The Tauren & The Goblin #145: On Yogg-Saron (for Real)
Nick and Katie are back and feeling better and ready to talk about Yogg-Saron, for real this time! First, Nick talks about Mythic Quest on Apple Plus and says it was pretty good and worth checking out.
Then, they get into talking about Yogg-Saron. They talk about the corrupting influence of his blood and how he was responsible for much of what was going on in Northrend. They talk about how he corrupted the world tree Vordrassil and used it to get a foothold in the Emerald Dream, thus giving way to the Emerald Nightmare. Nick wonders about Fandral Staghelm planting so many world trees. They also talk about Yogg’s many mouths and try to break down the biological effect that that many mouths would have.
They talk about the nature of corruption and how the Old Gods can either browbeat their victims into submission or maybe they can be more nuanced about it. Nick wonders if Twitter and Reddit are Old God machinations. They talk about Deathwing was corrupted courtesy of Yogg’s efforts.
Nick tries to compare the efficacy of Yogg to the Jailer, with Yogg having been responsible for much of what was wrong in Northrend, and the Jailer supposedly responsible for much of what has been wrong throughout Warcraft history.
Finally, they talk about the visions hat occur during the Ulduar raid, with Yogg being responsible for Deathwing’s corruption that lead to him deceiving the other dragonflights to help him create the Dragon Soul. We also see Garona killing Llane, and the Arthas torturing Bolvar, which has implications. They also talk about the current state of Ulduar with Mimiron not answering and old god minions being found on-site during Legion.

  • Wondrous Tails #91: Endwalker Story Deep Dive (pt. 6)
This is it, we're at the end of our walk through the Endwalker expansion story. Sorry. But we're done! This episode covers the events from level 89/90 main scenario quests, so obviously it's a big time spoiler party. We've got a lot of feelings about birds, our wannabe nemesis, and emotions overall. We made it to the end of the story just in time for there to be new story ready to go in a week! While you're waiting for that, though, give us a listen.
