  • WoW! Talk! #208: The Coming Drought
Nick, Rei, and Eric are back to talk about what’s been going on in World of Warcraft! Nick recaps the state of things, with the main content push of 9.2 wrapping up and the 10.0 announcement just a few weeks away, and Echo winning the World First Jailer race.
Rei talks enjoying the quest to hold Pocopoc like a child shooting things and also the quest to ride the robot where she could not strafe. She also talks about how legendary and tier slots don’t count for ilvl when she couldn’t trade her mythic +10 cape. She also talks about a streamer who raided with them this week and how enjoyable he was as a group member, and this leads to a discussion about the importance of strong social guild members for keeping guild morale up.
Eric talks about finally defeating Anduin (Andy) and getting Rygelon down to 1%. He expects they’ll have him down next time.
Nick talks about his time on the mission table and how he wishes for UI improvements to it. He discusses some add-ons with Rei.
In the news, the 9.2.5 PTR is up and various content has been datatmined. Also, Shadowlands season 4 was announced which means that we are about a year out from the next expansion. They talk about how season 4 will bring back old content and make it relevant so that that content drought won’t feel as long. Also, Activision Blizzard shareholders are to vote on the acquisition, and wowhead has a preview of the Sylvanas novel.
They take a quick look back at episode 108 and then Eric shares his opinion of the post-Anduin cinematic. He did not like how Arthas was treated.

  • Squad Goals #42: On Paragon Lost
Nick, Chip, and Kurabara are back this week but they are NOT talking about the Mass Effect Legendary Edition. Instead, they are taking a week to talk about Mass Effect: Paragon Lost, the anime movie that falls in between Mass Effect 2 and 3.
They begin by talking about its run time (about 90 minutes), and get into talking about the production values and the voice actors. This is a movie that is about Vega, a character from Mass Effect 3, and his backstory. They debate if this is worth watching. They talk about the 3D CGI sequences. They consider James’ viability as an NPC, and talk about the animation style.
After recapping the beginning of the movie which details a Blood Pack attack on the colony of Fehl Prime, Nick comments how the Krogan second-in-command Brood looks like another anime character. They comment that they struggled to learn everyone’s names. Kurabara brings up Essex harassing Camille, and that leads into a run down of the characters. They discuss Milque and Vega’s conversation about choice. They talk about the Blood Pack forces and how Milque survived getting shot. They talk about the shuttle crash.
Next, the story advances two years, and they talk about the Collector attack on Fehl Prime. They wonder about Shepard’s status during these events, and Chip points out that there is a ME2 reference to Fehl Prime. They talk about how the Collector threat is obscured initially. They discuss how the antidote research is the unmentioned reason why the crew is stationed there. They consider the James and April relationship, and then look at the James and Treya relationship. They talk about their initial reaction to Messner, and the convenience that the APC wasn’t working right when the Collectors hit. They evaluate Liara’s cameo, and discuss how the collector pods work. They talk about everyone’s disbelief in the Reapers. They consider Camille’s fate and talk about the Collector Ship and its guns. Kura wonders about James’ decision to leave April behind. They talk about Messner and Cerberus and the return of Brood.
Finally, they talk about Vega’s assault on the Collector Ship. They talk about Brood’s many guns. They talk about how the biotic powers are well represented in combat. They talk about Messner turning on Brood, and Vega’s earlier ploy with the antidote. They mention the Prothean Beacon, and Vega failing to save Treya when she was in the pod with the data. They wonder about the number of Collector Ships and mention that Vega and Shepard are the only two people to destroy a Collector Ship. They evaluate Vega’s decision and talk about Vega flashing through the consequences at the end. They compare Vega’s choices to those made by Shepard. Chip points out that Vega is getting Renegade points for what he did. They talk about how Shepard would have fared with the same choices, and how the movie ends with Vega reporting to Vancouver.

  • WoW! Talk! #207: The WoW 'n Wrestling Connection
Nick, Rei, and Harv are back and joined once again by Eric to talk about what's been going on in World of Warcraft! First, Rei gets into how raiding and running mythic plus dungeons have been going. They talk a bit about Tazavesh and how it feels being split. They also talk about the frog mount that can be acquired in Haven and how you’ll need items from the vendor in Tazavesh, though that can be completed without actually running the raid. Then Eric talks about the struggles they have faced on Halondus, the robot crab boss in Sepulcher of the First Ones. He also talks about playing as a destroy lock as opposed to a blood death knight and how that is going for him. Harv mentions he hasn’t had time to play.
Next, Nick talks about how the reception to the cinematics in the Sepulcher of the First Ones raid were disappointing. He goes into a history of internet wrestling fandom, and how people were upset with the 1999 WWF (now WWE) storylines. He tells a story of himself and his friend going to a show and yelling about the head writer to show how smart they were, only to later learn they were not smart at all, and cautions everyone complaining about the WoW writing team to be careful with what they call for.
Finally, they talk about the news. First, some investor friends of Bobby Kotick are being investigated for insider trading pertaining to the Activision Blizzard sale to Microsoft. Then, they talk about the Save the Date announcement that the next expansion announcement is coming in April. They talk about what they’d like to see in the announcement. They also talk about the announcement that a Warcraft mobile game will be revealed in May and how Blizzard has seemed hesitant to announce mobile projects since Diablo Immortal.
