Is the body of man a temple?
In this episode of Masonic Muscle, I read from Observing the Craft by Andrew Hammer and reflect on what he says about the Temple, Freemasonry, and the individual Mason.
Hammer writes:
“The Temple is the individual Mason striving to be a better man, and that work on the Temple is the work that each of us, and only each of us can undertake on our own.”
That line cuts straight to the heart of the Craft.
This episode solves one Masonic problem:
How can a Mason become better if he refuses to build a stronger foundation in his thoughts, words, actions, body, mind, and spirit?
We discuss:
Andrew Hammer’s Observing the Craft
the Temple as the individual Mason
Freemasonry as self-improvement
building a strong foundation
thoughts, words, and actions
the body as a temple
mental, physical, and spiritual improvement
strength training and discipline
self-esteem, health, and responsibility
why no one can do the work for you
Freemasonry gives a man symbols and tools.
The gym gives him resistance and proof.
Your thoughts shape your words.
Your words shape your actions.
Your actions shape your habits.
Your habits shape your life.
And your work in the gym helps build the physical body that carries the man through that life.
So stay focused.
Get out there.
Train the body.
Discipline the mind.
Strengthen the spirit.
Build the Temple.
