About Masters of the Vortex
From the publisher's feed
Masters of the Vortex is a high-energy space opera by E. E. “Doc” Smith, set within the expansive universe of the Lensman stories. Nuclear engineer Neal “Storm” Cloud possesses an extraordinary…
mathematical mind—and a unique ability to extinguish the deadly atomic vortices threatening entire planets.
Following a devastating personal tragedy, Cloud dedicates himself to destroying these uncontrollable storms of heat and radiation. Commanding the specially equipped starship *Vortex Blaster II*, he travels from world to world, confronting increasingly dangerous cosmic disasters. He is joined by Joan Janowick, a brilliant computer specialist determined to transform his instinctive calculations into a reliable scientific system.
Their mission soon develops into something far greater than an engineering challenge. Evidence of an unexpected intelligence behind the vortices forces Cloud to reconsider everything he believes about the mysterious phenomenon and the consequences of his work.
Combining colossal scientific ideas, interstellar danger, advanced technology, romance, and psychic discovery, *Masters of the Vortex* delivers classic space opera at full intensity. This audiobook is ideal for listeners who enjoy daring heroes, cosmic mysteries, spectacular spacecraft, and fast-moving science-fiction adventure.
