  • Instant Replay: 1. FC Köln V Bayern Munich

We give our instant reaction and analysis as Bayern Munich beat FC Köln 2-1 in a routine victory in the Bundesliga. But perhaps it wouldn't have been so routine if Köln could finish.

Thomas Muller was the stand out performer in a much changed Bayern team that included everybody's favourite Eric Maxim Chupo Moting. But it is at the back where maybe Hansi Flick will have cause for concern as Köln made a real fist of it in the second half, and with some better finishing could have something out of the game.

We also look ahead to the Klasiker next weekend, and assess what makes Bayern favourites still for the Champions League.

  • MatchDayReview #89: Bartomeu Resigns, Madrid Rescue Themselves, and More Defensive Woes For Liverpool

Barcelona president, Josep Bartomeu resigned from his position late last night, and did so in the most Bartomeu way ever, by signing them up for the European Premier League. We take a look at how it came to this for the Catalan club, and where they can go from here.

Elsewhere, Real Madrid continue to struggle in the Champions League, although this time they manage to salvage a draw, theres more injury troubles at the back for Liverpool (a moments silence please) as Fabinho hobbles off in their win over Midtjylland, and it's not too early to call Fulham-West Brom a relegation 6 pointer in this weekends Premier League fixture.

  • Instant Replay: Barcelona V Real Madrid

The first Clasico of the season, and it's Madrid's Clasico.  Two teams maybe not up to their usual standards, but that didn't stop an entertaining game in the Barcelona sunshine.

We break down all the talking points from the game, including Ramos reffing his own penalty, how poor defending isn't local to the Premier League, and is the balance off for both these teams?

  • MatchDayReview #87: United's Night in Paris, European Premier League, and Mesut Özil

Rashford does it again for Manchester United in Paris.  We dissect another big night for United in the Champions League, as well as a rare clean sheet for Frank Lampard's Chelsea, and some cracking goals from defenders across Europe.

The Premier League's big 6 are at it again with their money making schemes. Sadly we have to talk money again, and this time it involves a European Premier League. What does this mean for the Champions League as we know it? Does it affect the Premier League? And the quote Jamie Carragher, can they not just f**k off?

We'll also discuss why Mesut Özil has been left out of Arsenal's Premier League 25 man squad, and ask does playing the drums make you a better goalkeeper than Kepa? All this and more on this episode of the MatchDayReview Podcast.

  • Instant Replay: Everton V Liverpool

Instant reaction and analysis of the Merseyside derby as Everton come from behind twice to draw with Liverpool.

Talking points galore as Jordan Henderson has a last minute winner disallowed for offside in the build up, as VAR continues to interfere and make baffling decisions. There's also a debate as to whether Jordan Pickford should have been on the field after a tackle of Virgil Van Dijk in the early minutes.
All that and of course everything else to do with the latest instalment of the Merseyside derby, on the MatchDayReview Podcast.

  • MatchDayReview #85: Project Big Picture and Everton's Title Credentials

Over the weekend Liverpool and Manchester United's owners released their proposal for the future of English football. They called it Project Big Picture and, well, it's caused quite the stir. On today's podcast we give our opinion on the proposal, the good, the mostly bad, and just why you don't want Joel Glazer in charge of English football.

We also have a look at this weekends standout Premier League fixtures, including Saturdays Merseyside Derby, Arsenal's trip to the Etihad, Newcastle hosting Manchester United, and a top of the table clash between Villa and Leicester. Plus, could some players be making the jump from the Championship to the Premier League, because apparently we haven't quite had enough of transfers just yet. All this, and a little bit more, on this weeks, MDR Podcast.

  • MatchDayReview #84: Premier League and Pay Per View

With the international break taking centre stage this weekend we thought it would be a good idea to take a look at the new pay per view model that the Premier League is adopting as of next weekend. Announced on Friday afternoon, as of next Saturday, 5 of the 10 Premier League games on the weekend will now be £14.99 per game on either Sky or BT Box office.

We analyse what this move means for the league and the direction is heading, and discuss the blatant disregard for fans of football clubs all throughout the footballing pyramid.

  • MatchdayReview #83: Partey Time in North London and the Future of the Transfer Window

It's Partey time at the Emirates! Arsenal make the shrewdest signing on deadline day as they steal Thomas Partey from a furious Diego Simeone and Atletico Madrid. Is he the signing to take Arsenal to the next level, and should they have signed him years ago?

Elsewhere, Manchester United make 4 deadline day signings of their own. We assess their rollercoaster of a transfer window, and mull over the futures of Englands once bright stars Jack Wilshere, Danny Welbeck, and Theo Walcott.

And finally, now that the transfer market has shut what does the future of the window look like? Have we seen the blueprint for deals going forward, and are smaller clubs going to face a harder time of it in the coming years?

  • MatchDayReview #81: Pep is a Fraud and Other Stories

After a weekend of controversy in the Premier League we delve straight into everything that is wrong with the handball rule and ask, 'is it ruining football'? (Yes)

Also, after their trashing at the hands of Leicester at the weekend are their cracks starting to show at Manchester City, and is Pep Guardiola feeling the pressures of his own success? What do they need to challenge for the title, and does Pep have a his first real re-build in him?

Elsewhere we jump to the defence of Frank Lampard, discuss whether Greggs is going to sponsor VAR, and of course with less than a week to go look at some of the potential transfers that may still happen. (Yes that does include Jadon Sancho. We're sorry, we know its tiring, but they put a bid in so we have to talk about it)
