Tom Jellicoe, Cambridge Ph.D. in physics and consultant for Sensors & Devices at TTP plc, says that one challenge, which seems simple, is one of the biggest challenges - keeping the sensors clean and available 100% of the time to the vehicle.

There are a couple of challenges including knowing when the sensor needs to be clean and answering the question - who’s responsibility is it to keep clean?

In my opinion, it should be done at the vehicle level.

Simply put - OEMs know the entire architecture of the car.

Whereas if the analysis and assessments are done at the component level, the scope has to be narrowed down.
