The weirdest thing I have ever seen when it comes to living as a digital nomad was in Bali. It was a great sunny day where I just woke up and wanted to get some coffee.
So I went into this coffee shop and I saw this weird sign on the wall. I was still somewhat of a zombie (since I had not had my coffee yet), so it took my brain a while to realize what my eyes were reading.
The sign said, "No Digital Nomads Allowed" and below that there was a red circle around a laptop with a line though it.
WTF…No digital nomads allowed?
Later I understood that it actually made sense. There are so many people working remotely in Bali and you will most likely meet quite a few of them every day. Of course, these guys take up space in cafes all day while maybe only ordering a couple drinks and potentially costing businesses other potential customers.
It's similar in cities like Bangkok, Chiang Mai, or Saigon but why? Why do so many digital nomads move to Southeast Asia?
In today's video, the full-time traveler Riley Bennett and I discuss why we choose to live here.
