In this video, we look at the history of the catechism. The word itself is the basic NT word that means instruction. Early on, Christians began to develop ways to instruct and prepare people for baptism and the Lord's Supper. This kind of teaching came to its fullest form in the Reformed catechisms of the 15 and 1600s.

In this episode, we continue our sermon series through the book of Daniel. Today we continue the events in which Daniel meets a supernatural visitor, possibly a Christophany or pre-incarnate appearance of Jesus Christ. Though Daniel is initially struck down by the glory of the messenger, he is incrementally strengthened as the visitor touches him three times and repeatedly calls him "greatly beloved."

In this episode, we continue our verse-by-verse sermon series through the book of Daniel. Here, we come to Daniel 9:1-19, where the prophet prays for forgiveness and mercy for the people of God. Daniel "turns his face to the Lord," and begs God for covenant mercies. Having read the prophecy of Jeremiah 25:8-14, Daniel is now assured that the Exile is coming to an end after seventy years. In this sermon, we define prayer, look to the One to whom prayer is addressed, and then identify some of its characteristics. We conclude with three things that prayer is not.
