In this sermon, we continue our series in the book of Daniel. We come today to the mysterious vision of the ram and the goat. Daniel foresees the changing of the guard from Persia to Greece in a vision, but we take the time to consider several different understandings of divine sovereignty including open theism, middle knowledge, and Reformed providence.

In today's text, Daniel asks for help in interpreting the visions that he has seen of the beasts, the Ancient of Days, and the Son of Man receiving authority. An angelic helper gives him interpretation, but it is not as soothing as Daniel might have hoped, and both threats and some comforts are present.
