Shortwave Records is hosting a music showcase on February 7, 2026 at the Crystal Corner Bar with bands from the label. Founder Eric Hartz and members from his band The Flavor That Kills stop into Max Ink Radio to talk about the show and archiving local band recorings.

Becca Murray is a rising singer/songwriter in Madison who decided to branch off on her own to write, record and perform her own music. Becca is a currenbtly a member of accomplished bands like 90 Proof and Atomic Blonde, but the Wildflowers allow Becca to blossom in a new garden.

On December 26th 2024 911 operator Alyssa Engen answered an emergency call from a frantic wife at a live music venue whose husband had just gone down while playing drums. 

And like that, Ayssa stepped into the moment to bring the impossible situation under control and start saving a life. Mine. 

Now, Alyssa and her husband Tom want to save another life, a child’s life. Together they are looking to adopt a child and the process is daunting with challenges both legally and financially.

Here in the studio to talk about their journey, goals and efforts is Alyssa and Tom Engen.

Chris “Bubba” Hawbaker has been a photojournalist with WISC TV for 12 years. Chris works on news weekdays and plenty of weekends. Often he’s the man behind the camera asking the unheard questions that inspire the statements you see people give on the Channel 3 news.

But Chris has another passion, local music, and produces a show called “Morning Notes” featuring interviews and stories on local music groups and personalities.

Fort Atkinson based singer/songwriter Katie Scullin is Live from the Madcity performing songs from her past catalog and a few new ones. Dain DiMattia accompanies Katie for an acoustic duo peformance.

Madison rockers Sean Michael Dargan Trio are back on Max Ink Radio performing songs from their catalog and talking about upcoming shows and new album.

Los Angeles rock band Shiver has Madison roots and singer Justin Blair is home visting for the holidays and has some new songs to premier.

Gin Mill Hollow co-founder, singer and guitarist Dan Plourde along mandolinist Joshua "Juice" Giudice are in the studio to premiere new music from the americana-fusion band.
