A young adult contemporary story. The narrative alternates between the perspectives of two main characters, Jeremy and Lukas, highlighting their individual struggles and their intertwined relationship. Lukas, still coping with the death of his brother and familial dysfunction, also campaigns for Homecoming King, desperately seeking a win to unite his fractured family. The excerpts explore themes of identity, acceptance, grief, competition, and the complexities of high school relationships, culminating in the Homecoming dance and its aftermath, where both personal and collective challenges are confronted.
