I’ve always dreamed of competing at the FCI AWC (Agility World Championships) with a dog. Dogs age, health and team requirements have always prevented me from getting the chance. Finally with my greatest agility dog to date, I was chosen to represent Canada at this event.
I trained and prepared intensely for the toughest competition I'd ever experience. I flew all the way across the world to the Czech Republic with my dog. Unfortunately, before the event, I learned that I would not be allowed to run due to Bee-Line not making the height requirements.
I wanted a chance to speak about exactly what happened.
Huge thanks to the Agility community for all your support during a very difficult time.

This podcast is a little different!
In just a few days, we are heading to one of the year's most important Canadian Agility Championships. So, the time has come to think about the mindset and mental game needed to set ourselves up for the best chance at success!
In their last class before the trip, the McCann Clan asked me for a pre-competition pep talk! So, late last night "After Class", I did a brain dump of all my thoughts! With this quick turnaround, I decided to jump into the studio to share this pep talk with all of you! I thought it might be helpful to listen to on the way to a competition.
I HOPE YOU ENJOY & Remember, YOU GOT THIS!

Kayl McCann & Jamie Moreau sat down with fellow McCann Dog Agility Coaches Steve Walsh & Angela McRae to do an extensive debrief session of Ange's first trip to the European World Championships to represent Team Canada! We talked about some of the different styles of dogs, Agility handling & the experiences that changed how she thinks about the sport and how she will train moving forward.
We also discussed the comparisons between European & North American Agility training & competition.
Join us for laughs and maybe even learn a few things as this group of friends enjoys playing 20 Questions with Ange!

In this episode we're joined by our dear friend and fellow competitor, Dave Munnings. Dave travelled all the way from England to visit us for some Agility training, so we captured him for a few podcast episodes!
We met Dave years ago while competing overseas at the Agility World Championships & due to our similar humour PLUS our views on dog training & agility, we connected almost immediately. It was no surprise we were also on the same page when it came to people's "Attitude" in Agility.
We talked all about the many situations where someone with a negative attitude can affect you whether it be at a class or competition. We also talked about the different mindsets that allow for optimal learning and growth as a handler. We shared some pretty great stories too!
There is no holding back on this one!
Enjoy!

We are delighted to bring you this episode of the After Class Podcast! Today we REAL TALK with Mental Game Coach, Kathy Keats. Kathy has years of experience competing internationally in both Basketball, Dog Agility & Sheep Dog Trails. She has helped a wide range of people to achieve their goals and learn to overcome those mental obstacles that hold us back.
Since we're all International Level Coaches, we wanted to talk about ALL aspects of mental game. We talk about things from a handlers perspective - How to deal with pressures at a trial, how to control your thought before, during & after a run, how to recover from a poor performance & so much more! We also from a coaches perspective! How to help your students reach their goals & potential, how to help students when they are struggling with their mental game and what to do when students attitude is effecting those around them.
This was SUCH a fascinating conversation! I hope everyone is able to leave with many take aways!
If you'd like to learn more about Kathy Keats programs about Mental Game, visit her website: www.KathyKeats.com. Kathy also has a fabulous Podcast of her own called "The Kathy Keats Show". You'll find some great episodes to listen to.

In this episode we're diving deep into the age old question "HOW DO I GET MY DOG TO HAVE CONSISTANT CONTACT PERFORMANCE IN BOTH TRAINING & TRIALS?". It's VERY common for dogs to have 2 set's of "criteria". One that is often wonderful & reliable in training and then another in trials where sometimes behaviour goes off the rails. Why does this happen? What can we do get GREAT contact performance in competitions? How do you deal with dogs who push the limits in a trial setting?
We hope you enjoy this episode!
