- Douglas reads the Apology of Socrates- part 6 of 7, After guilty verdict
Glad to have you listening with us today! I've been interested in reading the Harvard Classics, and plan to share a few stories from each volume as I go. This is Volume one, containing multiple ancient philosophies, and here we will focus on one in particular. Today I will read you a bit of the classic writing that is actually pretty interesting and fun to read. This is The Apology of Socrates, written by his student Plato. Socrates was a great philosopher, who very much annoyed everyone. Everyone except his students at least. The Apology, is an apology in the classical sense meaning a defense of, so this is Socrates defending himself in the Athenian court of Law, with his life on the line. I hope you enjoy!
We hope you enjoy this sneak peak, and as always if you enjoy the story then we invite you to visit your local library and ask them to reserve it for you!
If you can't find it at your library, then you will want to follow my Project Gutenberg guide, so please check it out to learn more!
