Mech Ado About Nothing

Stop! In the name of the International Gunpla Battle Referees! We cover episodes 9-16 of Gundam Build Fighters, which is still the best Gundam show of all time. We talk about Gunpla crimes, Gunpla battles, and Gunpla sexism in this episode, plus a truly spectacular mech corner.

We cover the greatest Gundam series of all time, do not reach out to comment. We talk about how proper goal setting can make or break  show, what makes an interesting shounen anime, and do our best to cover some of the references in these first eight episodes. It's the best commercial ever made!

We're not Japanese enough to appreciate all the political intrigue in the second Patlabor movie. We talk about what works, and what falls flat in this very different piece of Patlabor media.

Ian's alone this week with his take on the CCA theatrical release and Promare! Maybe he should have recorded this episode right after seeing it instead of a month later, but that's neither here nor there. He talks about climate change, textual gayness, and how dumb characters are the best characters.

Join Ian and a bevy of guest stars for a short game of Macross II! This system makes no sense, so we have a lot of fun trying to figure out the rules and whether or not the Macross universe has cell phones. This was recorded live in a large room, so the audio is a bit of a mess, but honestly that's what this gameplay deserves.

Our long-delayed finale to Iron Blooded Orphans is finally here! We break down some of the top moments of these final episodes, then tear the show to shreds for a bit. We question the villains' motivations, McGillis' "plan," and this shows' total delinquency regarding long-standing Gundam themes. Then, we finally settle the debate of the best starter Gundam show ONCE AND FOR ALL, no further comment needed.

Iron Blooded Orphans begins to fall apart as we reach the main stretch of the second season. We bounce around from raid boss Mobile Armors, Iok Kujan who has stopped being funny and started being awful, and Mika's slide into Gundamhood. We get super frustrated at the (lack of) general arc of this season but do enjoy the wide range of mobile suit designs, including more Metal Gear knockoffs.

We end Season 1 of IBO and pick up Season 2 in this double header episode! We break down the way Season 1's ending is both complete and disappointing, set up the changes in Season 2 (and its clumsy introduction), and get into some cool mobile suits. It's the return of G Reco this week on Mech Ado About Nothing!

Tekkaden gets swept up in a workers' revolt this week and we get carried along for the ride. We talk classism in Gundam, break down our major characters, and relish in this show's sweet, sweet mech designs. Also, is this the first Gundam show to endorse polyamory?
