Ever wonder how you're supposed to choose your lifelong career from a mere 3-4 weeks on a clinical rotation? What if you finish your clerkship year and still don't know what specialty you want to pursue? Your Med Legs Co-Hosts Michaela and Cecilia give you some big questions to think about throughout your time in medical school which may help guide you in the right direction. They also answer these questions for themselves and explain their influence on their own specialty choices.
Your Med Legs co-hosts tell you less about what clerkships are and more about their personal experiences in the wards.
What are clerkships? What does a typical day look like as a clerkship student? What do you need to purchase to prepare for clerkships? Cecilia, Anitra, and Michaela answer these questions and more.
Tune in to hear your co-hosts Anitra and Michaela discuss their motivation to keep going through the good times and bad in medical school.
Your co-hosts Anitra and Michaela talk about how their communities have changed since medical school. In this episode, they discuss what it's like making friends in medical school, staying in contact with their friends from outside of medical school, and creating space for their nearby families as well. A perfect episode about relationships to end the month of February with!
Your Med Legs co-hosts pick the conversation back up from the last episode about how they managed their time during the pre-clerkship years. In this episode, they talk about the things medical students get involved in outside of the classroom. Whether that's student organizations, personal passion projects, or some good old free time at home spent reading a book or soaking up the sun, we talk about the things we like to do and the advice we have for others who are trying to make it through these years of their medical school career.
Welcome to the second season of Med Legs! This season we are experimenting with a new 30 minute format. For the first two episodes of the year we will be talking about the pre-clerkship years. This first episode dives into what a medical school schedule looks like, what medical students are learning during these years, and how your Med Legs hosts handled the amount of knowledge being thrown at them those first years of medical school.
Your Med Legs hosts pick up where they left off earlier this year on the conversation around financing medical school. In this episode, Anitra and Michaela sit down with recent Penn Med alumna and current pediatric resident at Children's National Dr. Mariam Olujide to hear her experience and advice on applying to medical school and residency programs. Dr. Olujide was one of the founding members of the Penn Med FGLI group, at that time called LIFT US UP, and we are thankful for the opportunity to share her wealth of knowledge with our listeners. Oh, and did we mention this is the season 1 finale? We can't wait for you all to see what we have planned for next year!
Wondering what jobs helped your co-hosts through high school, college, and now medical school? From odd jobs to clinical experiences, they each have a myriad of experiences to share with you, along with some lessons learned.
