Welcome to a new season. This time, I'm taking you inside the science of skincare ingredients, and I'm starting with one of the oldest, richest, and most misunderstood categories of all: OILS.

For decades, we were told oily skin should fear oils. Then the pendulum swung, and suddenly oil became a synonym for nourishment, longevity, and natural beauty. As with most things, the truth is somewhere in between. Oil is not automatically a problem, even for oily skin, and it's not automatically a magic treatment, even for dry skin.

In this episode, I debunk my favorite oil myths, explain the chemistry of fatty acids in plain language, and reveal why the same oil can soothe your skin in one climate and inflame it in another. I will walk you through five of my favorite oils, the honest truth about coconut oil and rosacea, why jojoba oil literally helped save the whales, and the human story behind shea butter. And I explain why the best oil is never the most expensive or the most fashionable; it's simply the right one for your skin, here and now.

The old "dry, oily, or normal" skin classification is over 100 years old. Even astrology is more complicated. In this episode, I share the full professional skin diagnostic I've taught to practitioners in more than 30 countries, a precise, 7-step algorithm for building what I call a skin passport.

GLP-1 drugs like Ozempic, Wegovy, and Mounjaro are transforming medicine, and increasingly, aesthetics. But behind the "magic pill" headlines is a powerful systemic drug with complex effects on your metabolism, your brain, and very visibly, your face and skin.

In this episode, I unpack what GLP-1 actually is, why these drugs became so popular, and what they really do to the skin, not just through rapid weight loss and "Ozempic face," but through deeper cellular mechanisms involving fibroblasts, fat cells, stem cells, and even local estrogen. I'm honest about the paradox: for people with obesity, diabetes, or cardiovascular risk, these drugs can genuinely extend life and improve skin health. But for healthy people chasing a smaller dress size, they can accelerate skin aging with little cellular benefit in return. Most importantly, I share a complete, practical skin-support strategy: how to plan your weight loss pace, protect muscle, and build a skincare and treatment plan that helps your skin adapt gracefully rather than collapse. We're living in the golden age of injectables. Patients spend thousands on Botox, fillers, and skin boosters, and many start to ask: do I still need skincare, or is that just a marketing upsell?

In this episode, I sit down in London with Dr. Anna Kantser, NHS GP with a special interest in dermatology, aesthetic doctor, and founding member of the Royal Society of Medicine's Aesthetic Medicine Section, to answer that question honestly, from both sides of the needle. We talk about what actually penetrates the skin and what doesn't, why expensive creams are often just expensive marketing, and where the real evidence sits behind Botox, fillers, and collagen stimulators. For the last eight years, Jean-Daniel Bartl has been the chemist behind many of our Meder formulas. He has created over 2,000 cosmetic products and trained more than 5,000 professionals. I want to strip skincare right down to what you actually need every day, not for anti-aging, but for active longevity. Not a routine built around trends or panic-buying ten serums, but one built the way a good hotel director plans maintenance: calmly, strategically, and with a clear idea of what keeps the building running.

In this episode I walk through the four essential pillars of a longevity routine: a gentle cleanser that cleans without stripping, an antioxidant serum that acts as your skin's firefighters and energy support, a good moisturizer that works like smart climate control, and a situational sunscreen wardrobe that respects where and how you actually live. I also take on the elephant in the beauty aisle (retinol) and explain honestly why, as a cosmetic safety expert, I see daily strong retinol as anti-aging at any cost rather than true longevity. By the end, my hope is that you can look at your bathroom shelf and tell the difference between what genuinely supports your skin's long-term function and what is just pretty decoration in the lobby.

Biohacking usually makes people think of gadgets, cold plunges, and infrared saunas. But that is not what I mean. In this episode, I want to talk about biohacking as something quieter and far more powerful: working with your skin's biology instead of fighting it.

I walk through five strategies I use to hack the skin's systems, speaking its own language with bioidentical ingredients, compensating deficiencies with close relatives rather than exact twins, restoring the skin's repair capacity, timing skincare to your biological clock, and re-energizing mitochondria while nudging epigenetics in your favor. Along the way I explain why the same molecule can help one skin and harm another, why your vitamin C serum might be doing nothing, why heavy layering rarely works, and why consistency (not drama) is the real price of results. By the end, my hope is that you'll be able to look at any product on your shelf and ask one simple question: which door in my skin hotel does this actually open?

Three steps or nine? Scandi minimalism or full K-beauty? It is one of the most common questions in skincare, and the honest answer is more interesting than either extreme.
