In 2007 Måns Adler founded the video service Bambuser that enable everybody to live stream video from mobile phone or webcam. Ericsson predicts 50 billion devices to be connected by 2030. The web will move into the era of things and when it happens we need things to be mediated so it gives us meaning. This is a great opportunity for the media industry. But the big question is of course, how?

Joakim Formo is Senior Researcher at the User Experience Lab at the research department of the global telecommunications company Ericsson. In this presentation Joakim shows an intriguing concept under the working name the Social Web of Things. It is a platform and an interaction model currently under development at Ericsson Research, and a result of their research on how most people could easily interact with large numbers of interconnected smart objects, and intuitively understand the internet of things as something new yet quite familiar.

The book tells the story of how she decided to pull the plug on her family’s entire armory of electronic weaponry for six months-from the itsy-bitsiest iPod Shuffle to her son’s seriously souped-up gaming PC-her three kids didn’t blink an eye.

Paola Antonelli is Senior Curator in the Department of Architecture and Design of The Museum of Modern Art, where she has worked since 1994. Paola’s goal is to insistently promote design’s understanding, until its positive influence on the world is fully acknowledged and exploited.

Amber Case is a cyborg anthropologist and user experience designer from Portland, Oregon, USA. Her main focus is mobile software, augmented reality and data visualization, and reducing the amount of time and space it takes for people to connect. Case founded Geoloqi.com, a private location sharing application, out of a frustration with existing social protocols around text messaging and wayfinding.

Katarina Graffman holds a PhD in Anthropology and is an experienced Mass Media Anthropologist. In this presentation Katarina is giving answers to what impact the behavior of young media consumers will have for those who produce media.
