Jamie Davis: I’m here in the Physio Control booth at EMS World Expo 2013 in Las Vegas. And I get a chance to finally talk with one of the people I’ve been wanting to chat with Physio for a long time and that’s Mitch Smith, Director of Product Management for Physio Control. Mitch, welcome to Innovations in Patient Care.

Mitch Smith: Thank you very much. Pleasure to be here.

Jamie: So, Mitch, tell us a little bit about what it is you do. What is it the Director of Product Management does at Physio Control?

Mitch: Well, I lead a team of about a dozen product managers and what their job is to make sure that we are making the right products for you today and a year from now and ten years from now. So what that involves is a lot of listening, a lot of talking to our customers, a lot of talking to people who are thinking on the edge, and really understanding what the problems are and helping to translate that very ambig...

George and Paula Farah both work for Dare County, NC EMS on the Outer Banks and they know how time and distance affect a large, geographically diverse service area. In their system, crews used to have to wait until the beginning of each shift to find out what station they were staffing because of the paper staffing system they were using. EMS Manager from Aladtec changed all of that.

Now crews can check their schedule each day from home on their computer or smartphone and easily re-route to the proper station saving time and energy.
