This week on Medium in the Middle, we are talking about something that can be REALLY hard when you are developing your mediumship: detachment.

One of the best ways I can explain detachment in mediumship is to think of yourself like a mail carrier. Your job is to deliver the mail. You don’t need to know what is inside the envelope, why someone is receiving it, what they are going to do with it, or whether it makes sense to them right away. You just have to deliver it.

Mediumship can be the same way.

We can get so caught up in wanting to be right, wanting confirmation, or trying to figure out where every single piece of information fits that we accidentally get in our own way. Sometimes the information makes sense immediately, sometimes the confirmation comes days, weeks, or months later, and sometimes you may never get the confirmation at all.

In this episode, I’m sharing a few stories that are perfect examples of this, including readings where the names Anna and Troy didn’t make sense at the time, but the clients were able to connect the dots long afterward.

I also share a story about a reading where I was getting information about job changes and an unexpected business opportunity. At the time, it didn’t necessarily fit, but later, those exact circumstances started unfolding in the client’s life. And then there are the walnuts. 

Sometimes Spirit gives us information that feels completely random, and our job is still to say it. A recurring image of walnuts eventually connected back to a property a couple was considering, but there was no way for me to understand that connection when I originally received the information.

This is why I always encourage you to keep notes on the pieces that don’t make sense yet. Write them down. Come back to them later. You might eventually get the confirmation you were looking for, or you might not.

The goal is to become comfortable with both.

The more you can detach from needing to understand the information, needing to be right, or needing someone to immediately validate what you received, the easier it becomes to simply trust what comes through and deliver the message.

You are the mail carrier. Deliver the mail. 

Spirit can sneak in when you least expect it, so pay attention. It’s rarely random.

This week on Medium in the Middle, I am sharing two mediumship stories that are perfect examples of how Spirit can sneak into the most ordinary moments, and how sometimes the information we receive does not make sense until later.

The first story happened while I was getting ready to teach a Mediumship Practice Circle. Before the circle even started, I received a very specific image of rose bushes. I ended up using the rose bushes as an example while I was teaching, only to find out that the example was incredibly specific to someone in the circle. I also talk about one of the ways I recognize when information is coming from Spirit, especially when I hear myself using words or phrases that I would never normally use.

Then we get into story number two, which happened during a Reiki Level One training on the same day. A fire alarm, the smell of smoke, and a random thought about a fire extinguisher started creating a pattern that I could not ignore. As more pieces came together and multiple students shared their own fire-related experiences, we eventually realized who was trying to come through: a father figure in Spirit who had been a firefighter.

The interesting part was that I was not teaching mediumship. I was teaching Reiki, and I have very clear boundaries around giving spontaneous mediumship readings during my Reiki trainings. 

These two stories are such good examples of what mediumship can actually look like. It is not always one giant, obvious sign. Sometimes it is a rose bush. Sometimes it is a smell, a random thought, an oddly specific word, or several tiny pieces of information that eventually create a much bigger picture.

Spirit can sneak in when you least expect it, so pay attention. It’s rarely random.

Is it lucky girl syndrome, or just listening to my intuition?

This week on the podcast, we’re talking about what happens when you learn your own intuitive language and actually use it in your everyday life. Your intuition isn’t only for the big, life-changing moments. I use mine when I’m booking a flight, making plans, deciding what time to leave, figuring out if I need a backup plan, and  even when I’m trying to catch a ferry.

I’m sharing a story about catching the ferry twice when, logically, it looked like we probably weren’t going to make it. Both times, I kept checking in with myself. Should I be worried? Should I make a backup plan? Should I be feeling anxious about this? But every time I checked in, I still didn’t have a bad feeling. And both times, we made it onto the ferry as one of the last few cars.

The same thing happened when WestJet went on strike. Everything around me was giving me a reason to worry, but internally, I felt like my flight was going to be fine. I had this knowing that I was going to go to sleep, wake up, and the strike would be over. And it was.

Then there was the flight I needed to book. I knew that when I saw the right flight, I would know. I saw it, I got the feeling, and I booked it. Easy. Fast. Done.

This is why learning your own intuition matters. What is your yes? What is your no? What does a red light feel like? What does a green light feel like? What does pause, slow down, or wait feel like for you? We all have this ability, but you have to learn your own manual.

And of course, we have a follow-up to last week’s episode. First, my doorbell was aggressively ringing when this same friend came over. This time? The fire alarm decided to join the conversation.

The more I listen to my intuition, the easier and faster I can move through decisions because I know what I’m looking for and, more importantly, what I’m feeling.

So, is it lucky girl syndrome? Or do you just need to listen?

Your intuition called, and you should probably answer.

So pay attention. It’s rarely random.

What happens when your intuition is wrong, and is being wrong actually the worst thing that can happen?

I have a story for you that started when my friend was coming over for dinner at 7:30 pm. At 7:30 pm, my doorbell rang, so I yelled “come in!” from the kitchen and kept doing what I was doing, except no one came in. When I went to check the door, no one was there, so I went back to the kitchen and a few moments later the doorbell rang again, but once again, no one was there.

Then things got weird because my doorbell started ringing over and over again, aggressively, for almost an entire minute, and yes, I have the video, so you can go watch the whole thing happen on Instagram.

When my friend finally arrived, we immediately started trying to figure out what had just happened. Was it spirit trying to get my attention, was it someone coming through for my friend, was it someone for me, or was August 11th an important anniversary that I was supposed to recognize?

Then another thought popped into my head. Was someone passing away and coming to say goodbye?

That thought sent me into calling my family, putting everyone on high alert, and trying to figure out what my intuition was actually telling me.

Was my intuition right, was I picking up on something that was actually happening, or was I completely wrong about the entire thing?

This week's episode is about why trusting your intuition is worth it, even when there is a chance you might be wrong. What is actually the worst-case scenario of following your intuition and getting it wrong, and how does that compare to the worst-case scenario of getting an intuitive hit, ignoring it, and finding out later that you should have listened?

Sometimes being wrong is still worth it if it means continuing to listen, practice, and trust yourself, and this story was a very good reminder of exactly that.

Happy 7th birthday to The Medium in the Middle Podcast!

Seven years ago, this podcast started with one simple idea: I had so many crazy spirit stories, and I was tired of repeating them. So I decided I had to record them.

In this special birthday episode, we're going all the way back to the beginning in 2019. I'm talking about the first three episodes, why I started the podcast, how much has changed over the last seven years, and why I will always recommend starting before you feel ready.

What began as a place to document my own experiences has grown into something so much bigger. The purpose of The Medium in the Middle Podcast has always been to help you feel less alone in your spiritual development journey, teach you to trust yourself, save you time and money along the way, and give you a place to come whenever you need answers.

Think of this podcast as your spiritual dictionary. If you're experiencing something and wondering, "What the heck is happening to me?" there's probably an episode for that.

In this episode, I am filling in some of the blanks from last week's episode #312, and sharing more information to provide clarity around the story of Voldemort.

I intentionally kept parts of that story vague, but after sharing it, I knew there were more pieces that needed to be explained. This episode helps connect some of the dots before moving into the next part of the story.

I also share about a psychic reading I received in August, 2025. If you want the full backstory of how we even got to this point, go back and listen to episode #276 'A Psychic Told Me To Talk To You' first.

In this episode, I talk about the two psychic readings I received, why I decided to go back for a second reading, and all of the things that came through that were so accurate. I also share the things that were completely incorrect, the information that threw me for a loop, and the experience of sitting with information that doesn't always make sense.

I talk about the interesting relationship we can have with wanting to know the future. Some people love going to psychics because they want answers and insight, while other people would rather not know what is coming. I share my own experience with being someone who wanted clarity, but also had to process what it felt like to receive certain information.

There were also many things from the readings that confirmed information I already knew, which brought up even more questions around intuition, timing, and how we interpret the messages we receive.

This is my last episode of the summer, and the podcast will be back on September 9, 2026.

This is an episode I never thought I would record and have avoided sharing for years.

This story began over five years ago, and for a long time I have kept it to myself. I have a list in my phone with over 28 different stories, experiences, and moments. In this episode, I am sharing only two of them.

I have to share this part of the story because it is important and relevant to next week's episode, but I also have to keep certain details vague for a reason. For years, I have questioned these experiences. Is this intuition? Is this manifesting? Am I creating this? Am I just seeing patterns? Am I crazy?

What are the odds that something like this could happen over and over again, 28+ times throughout the years?

I don't have all the answers. But I do know that I have had enough experiences to know that I needed to talk about them.

I am sharing this episode because I know there are other people who have had experiences they cannot explain. Moments where their intuition was so loud, or where something happened that made them question what was possible.

My hope is that by sharing this, even with the pieces I cannot share, someone else feels a little less alone.

On June 9, 2020, I launched The Medium in the Middle website.

Six years later, I want to look back and share the story of how I got here. In this episode, I take you back to 2018 and share the journey that eventually led to the launch of The Medium in the Middle. I talk about taking my first Reiki course, leaving my job, and traveling to Costa Rica to complete my yoga teacher training. I share what it was like to return home without a job, visit Banff for the first time after moving away three years earlier, and realize that I needed to leave everything behind and move back to the mountains.

After deciding I wanted to return to Banff, I couldn't find a job anywhere. It felt like every door was closed. Then, when I realized what was happening, things started falling into place. Within days, I found work, made the move, and began rebuilding my life in a place that I knew I needed to be in.

Before The Medium in the Middle became my full-time career, I was working three jobs. I was serving in a restaurant, teaching yoga classes, and offering Reiki sessions while trying to figure out how to build a business from the ground up.

When COVID happened, I lost my jobs and everything changed. People began asking for online readings, workshops, and classes, and I suddenly found myself trying to figure out how to take a business that had been built around in-person services and move it online. It took months of figuring it out before the website was finally ready to launch to the world.

This episode is a reflection on the last six years of building The Medium in the Middle and the lessons I have learned along the way. If you've been thinking about starting something, whether it's a business, a new career path, or a dream you've been putting off, I hope this episode encourages you to take the first step. The best time to start was yesterday. The second-best time is today.

This is one of the most personal episodes I have ever recorded, and one I have avoided recording for an entire year.

For the past year, every time I sat down to record this episode, I found a reason not to. Part of me wasn't ready to revisit one of the most difficult seasons of my life, and part of me wasn't sure how to put the experience into words or share the impact it had on me.

In June 2025, after a trip to Ontario to visit family, my health took a sudden and drastic turn. What started as physical symptoms quickly escalated into my arms, hands, fingers, legs, knees, and joints no longer functioning properly, while my body blew up like a swollen balloon. For months, I struggled to do even the simplest everyday tasks, and I was forced to ask for help.

What followed was a season that changed me completely.

As someone who has always valued independence, I was forced to ask for help, slow down, and surrender to circumstances I could not control. Recovery took months, and much of that time was spent sitting on my porch, resting, reflecting, and trying to understand what my body was asking me to learn. I knew there was a lesson in all of it, and I wanted to understand every why.

The lessons went far beyond my physical health. This experience was not only about my body. It brought emotional, energetic, and spiritual lessons to the surface, and I was forced to confront patterns, beliefs, and realities.

In this episode, I share the story of what happened when my body shut down, why I have avoided talking about it for the past year, the impact it had on my life, and how it forced me to make changes that were in my best interest.

This conversation is vulnerable, sensitive, and deeply personal. Although it has taken me a year to feel ready to share it, I know there is a reason this story is meant to be told. Some experiences change the course of your life, and this was one of them.

In this week's episode, we are talking all about channelling, the difference between channelling and being a channeller, and the common "symptoms" that many people experience before they even realize what is happening to them.

I share my experiences working with channellers over the years, the patterns I continue to notice, and why discovering this label can sometimes help people finally make sense of experiences they have been having for years. While labels are not everything, they can help point you in the right direction and give you language for what you are experiencing so you can begin learning how to work with it instead of feeling overwhelmed by it.

For many people, these experiences can feel chaotic, intense, and all consuming at first, almost like being caught in a tornado. But over time, with awareness, practice, and understanding, you begin to realize that you can work with the energy instead of being controlled by it.

This is a conversation that recently gained a lot of attention on my social media, with many people resonating deeply with the signs and experiences I shared. In this episode, we go deeper into what it can feel like to channel information, how these experiences can show up differently for everyone, and why understanding your own energetic patterns is such an important part of spiritual development.
