EPISODE 20 - What do you do when you fail? Like many, Samir Mirza could’ve easily let his missteps defeat him, but instead, he turned those moments into opportunities to reflect, iterate, and improve.

From humble beginnings chasing hits on Blogspot to selling his company to Twitter, Samir is a massive success in every definition of the word. But instead of resting on his laurels, his relentless pursuit of self-reinvention and drive to make positive social impact keep him striving for even more. We chat about the Twitter buyout, his immaculate headshot, the enigma that is Elon Musk, and mastering the kitchen during quarantine. Enjoy the show.

EPISODE 19 - Surround yourself with good people. It’s been a reoccurring theme on the podcast lately and for good reason. It comes up again this week, but we also discuss something else—courage.

Melissa Polinar knew music was always where she wanted to be, but that doesn’t mean it came easy—she is as brave as she is talented. We talk about how Tumblr led her to work with David Ryan Harris, doing what it takes to figure out the ins and outs of the music business, and how growing up in Texas helped shape her into the incredible singer / songwriter and independent artist she is today. Also I get called out for being socially MIA and we finally address the "Red Car Incident". Enjoy the show!

EPISODE 18 - You know someone who seems to turn everything they touch to gold? John Ngyuen is that guy. From party promotion, to fashion retail, and now the food industry, John’s recipe for success is written all over every one of his projects.

But more than his own successes, he’s found ways to give back—not just to the city by helping feed 500 first responders every day amidst COVID-19, but by incubating young talent for decades who, now, are massive successes in their own right. That’s pretty cool. Enjoy the episode.

EPISODE 17 - Often times it’s not just work that make upending your life hard—it’s everything that comes with it. Marianne Batacabe has dealt with a lot in the workplace as a woman of color: misogyny, sexual harassment, racism. Take your pick. But beyond it, she’s also had to contend with a Japanese nuclear meltdown, the economic downturn of 2008…and now, finding a way through COVID-19 at the epicenter.

For some, those experiences would be crippling, but she’s found a way to persevere beyond the financial industry to pursue a passion in interior design working for Cassina in New York City. We chat about her journey from the CBOT to SOHO, masks on airplanes, driving before we had our licenses, and a success story that proves that hard work really does pay off.

EPISODE 16 - This week is a perfect illustration of how pretty much every conversation between Chris and I goes: we start with headspace check-in and talk about intelligent things like brand responsibility and stress coping…and somehow it turns into a chat about gut biome, boba ice cream, my birthday edible, and Tibetian sound healing YouTube vids. Okay here we go.

EPISODE 15 - The man, the myth, and the mastermind behind Phodega—Nate Hoops (@phodega). While most of our guests have left one singular pursuit for another, Nate has jumped around from quite a few realms: art, hospitality, retail, and now food. He is the living example of becoming a jack of all trades. We talk about his multifaceted past, taking on investors, and the value of patience in knowing when to pursue your passion.

EPISODE 13 - Hate and love are both human constructs. Right now, humanity is leaning towards hate. In an age where we can use technology to propagate information, we felt it necessary to use our podcast as a forum for discussion about what's going on in the world today. Even if the first response to "where do we go from here?" is "I don't know", it's better than to do, or say, nothing at all. As a society, we are dangerously losing touch with what it means to be a human. As intelligent beings, we are blessed by the ability to have complex thoughts, feel empathy, and forgive. Yet we are using those gifts to find divides amongst a singular race—the human one.

EPISODE 12 - This week Eric Plebani drops some KNOWLEDGE on us. Eric has been involved with some of the craziest automotive builds and his background in Computer Design and Animation certainly have a role to play in infusing some creativity into the car industry. We talk about the humility it takes to succeed, the real adrenaline rush of pro racing, and the value of personal relationships / building a good network. Definitely an episode you don't want to miss.

EPISODE 11 - This week Chris and Mike reflect on the first ten episodes and our own lives: what we’ve remembered, what we’ve learned. Chris's pre-podcast curse routine continues, my computer restarts in the middle of recording, and we get vulnerable about our failures.
