Back in 2011, Rob, Bas, and Sabi were running an online store selling phone accessories. Things were great, and the business was growing. However, they couldn’t find a time-saving solution for their most frustrating problem: shipping. As the adage goes, if you want something done, do it yourself. In a quest to solve the problem, they decided to build the software themselves, and by themselves, we mean they asked a programmer pal to help. With the transaction paid in beers and a mac screen, Sendcloud was born.
The all-in-one shipping software for online shops Sendcloud, headquartered in Eindhoven, Netherlands, offers 80 connections to shop systems and marketplaces of all kinds. According to its own information, the company has customers in France, Germany, Spain, Italy, Belgium, and the Netherlands, particularly the UK and Austria, helping e-commerce companies scale their business.
Sendcloud's mission is to increase the competitiveness of online retailers by optimizing the shipping platform for the entire shipping route from checkout to return. The spectrum of customers ranges from small to large online retailers and ranges from industries such as fashion and electronics to food and beverages.
Rob has (together with his team) managed to build a performance-driven company and a place where people really like to work. As we know, those two things often relate, and it isn't easy to maintain both things in a growth market like the e-commerce industry.
As you will hear, Rob has a passion for his company and even more to change as this should be for all good entrepreneurs.
