Meet the Clinician with Joseph Fincher, MEd, LPC-Associate
Join us for another inspiring episode of Meet the Clinician, hosted by Larneka Lavalais, LPC PLLC, as we sit down with Joseph Fincher, MEd, LPC-Associate, for an engaging conversation about mental health, healing, advocacy, and the journey to becoming a therapist.
Joseph Fincher is an LPC-Associate under the supervision of Noel C. Gonzalez, PhD, LPC-S. He is passionate about helping individuals navigate trauma, grief, anxiety, and depression through traditional talk therapy and other evidence-informed therapeutic approaches. Joseph believes that healing begins with being seen, heard, and accepted, and he strives to create a safe, affirming, and compassionate space where every client feels valued.
During this interview, Joseph will share what inspired him to pursue a career in mental health, his approach to therapy, and what new clients can expect when they begin counseling. We'll also discuss the importance of reducing stigma, especially among men and within the LGBTQIA+ community, and why affirming mental health care can make a life-changing difference.
Joseph has a special passion for serving the LGBTQIA+ community, particularly individuals who are transgender and seeking a supportive environment as they embrace and become their authentic selves. He also works with individuals living with chronic illnesses, including HIV, cancer, diabetes, and other long-term medical conditions, recognizing the close connection between physical and emotional well-being.
In addition to discussing his clinical work, we'll explore the lessons he's learned as an LPC-Associate, how he prioritizes self-care, and the advice he would offer aspiring mental health professionals. Whether you're considering therapy, studying to become a counselor, or simply passionate about mental health, this conversation promises to be both informative and inspiring.
Joseph sees clients at Hopes for Healing, with office locations in Montrose and Clear Lake, Texas. He offers in-person, virtual, and walk-and-talk therapy to meet clients where they are.
His areas of focus include trauma, grief, anxiety, depression, LGBTQIA+ affirming therapy, transgender-affirming care, and supporting individuals living with chronic illnesses, including HIV, cancer, diabetes, and other long-term health conditions.
