Samhain, Halloween, Allhallowtide, Dia de los Muertos (The Day of the Dead), Zhongyuan Festival, All Saints Day, All Souls Day, Pchum Ben, Chuseok, Gaijatra... These are but a few of the festivals that are being celebrated around the world as I write this...  It is said across all of them that it is a time when the veil is thin between us and the afterlife...  It is a time when we should honour our dead.  How and Why is there celebrations across the globe which have such similarities?
